Actually, both Great Britain and Norway had three classes of travel, it is just that you all had very little first, and after about 1910, we had very little second. If I remember correctly, the last 2nd class compartments on British Railways disappeared in 1954 when 2nd class travel was abolished on the boat trains. In Norway I seem to think the few first class vehicles were confined to the Oslo-Stockholm, and Oslo-Bergen routes. They may have made it onto the Oslo-Trondheim route, but I am not sure. Only one or two of A class carriages were built for the narrow gauge, and they were back in the 1870s! There were a few batches of Ao and ABo carriages built for the standard gauge side of NSB, but they were not exactly numerous - a few dozen at most. I think a couple of them have been preserved.

I love the kit bash into a Tertitten BCo!

Cheers,
Peter in Va.
Traffic Pattern? What pattern? Spuds out; grain in, but cattle, sheep and passengers are a lot less predictable.

The colour is near «Victorian Maroon», bought in a housepaint shop (solvent-based paint).
I think the colour is very much like the coaches at the Brandbright web-site.

I too like the coach pics. particularly the Norwegian one. Buildings look good too, I like the rusty corrugated iron above the hopper.

Welcome back Kjell, and what a comeback!! Those coach liveries are really great - a real contrast to the weathered buildings. I love the effect you've created on the concrete, and the rusted corrugated iron is brilliant! You must give us a master class in your weathering techniques.

Thanks for all nice feedbacks.
The corrugated iron are actually tinplates from tincanes cut in pieces with a metal scissors. Drilled some 0,6 mm holes and nailed them to the framework with small metal nails. The roof is grey painted plasticsheets from Plastruct.

It's a winterstorm here in Norway today. Then it's nice and warm to sit by the workbench and make something different than trains.
A heavy weathered Land Rover scale-model (1:18). I think it will fit perfectly in a trackside scene when spring comes in the garden.

That Landrover weathering is beautifully done and the vehicle is RHD too, is that how it was supplied? If so what make is it?

Incredible weathering as has been said. You should be very pleased. I just wish my railways time frame allowed me to have one.

The model is from Minichamps.de. Diecast metal. A very nice model.
The origin is the 1948-model with 50 HP 1,595ccm engine, made for agricultural sector.
The inspiration for weathering was a bit easy - just google different pics on the internet for «rusty classic landrover». :D

Finding the inspiration may be easy but translating it is another thing for some of us. That is very beautiful bit of weathering ( assuming you can have beautiful weathering  ).

I wanted a Series1 Landy some while ago and couldn't find one., I've just looked at Minichamps and they don't seem to do it any longer, but I did find them on Amazon, for.... (gulp) £130 + £15 postage! Not something I'd want to weather or leave outside at that price.

Marvellous bit of weathering, Kjell. Looks very realistic. Have you somehow sun bleached the green paint or is that the colour it comes when bought?

This is the way of weathering ...

The Land Rover comes very shiny out of the box. Masking the windows on both sides. Spray clear matt acrylic lacquer on the body. Rubbertires need to be cleaned with whitesprite more of this later.

The matt finish is done with light grey and silver Tamya acrylic paint washed with water on a q-tip. Leave some spots on the edges of the carbodywork. Originally this parts are made of aluminum and don’t rust like steelparts - they oxidazes and the paint peels of.
Paint small stripes of grey and silver to highlighten some parts on the body.

Steelparts as hinges, bolts and underframe were painted with enamels in rusty colors. And added some powder paints in rusty tones. To create rusty shades on the body, I washed with whitesprite down from hinges and bolts.

The rimes were painted white-grey and made rusty in the same way as on the body.
To make mud on the thires, I made a mix of plaster and mudcolors. The sides of the tires were brushpainted with powder colors the look like old dried mud.

The roof is airbrush-painted with a light grey-brown acrylic paint. Wash with whitesprite on rusty colors where the roof lay on the underlying steelframe.

This model will not be put outside on the garden railway when not running the trains. But to protect the weathering from moisture and rain, it will be given a protecting warnish - clear matt.

I hope this explanation will give some of you ideas to do something of the same kind. :D

A new coach coming from the workbench.

Though it's still winter, I think summer will appear this year too - but I'm not sure. :)
This time the Pine Hill Railway gets a Vale of Rheidol Matchboard Summer Bogie Coach from I P Engineering.
As you may have noted, the coach is shorter than the origin. Due to sharp curves on my railway, I like to convert the kit a little bit.
The internal number is Co15 (C is 3.class, o is bogie, and 15 is the number).

Here is the first photo of it - indoor - because a summer coach would look funny outside with 12 inches of snow around.
