Glad folks are enjoying it - so am I! The left hand side of the garden operates on the basis that I cut all the vegetation down once a year, and it grows back the next; the trackbed will be forced to blend in (and a ground level line wouldn't have much chance!)...

What are you interested in, trackwork-wise - is it point building? I've no special expertise but did take a load of photos when I was building the last batch, which I've been meaning to upload for a while.

It is points I'm needing. I have 2 jigs and a bucket load of wooden sleepers already to go.
If it can be made full scale it can be made 16mm

I'll dig the point-building photos out when I get a moment, though mine are all built using Peco components.

For completeness, here's a sketch of how I see the Tanyperth area panning out:

Smashing, I don't seem to be able to draw lovely track diagrams like that, they allways look wrong some how. Maybe its the points. I guess that the squiggle near the balloon loop point means sprung?

Yes, the idea would be for those points to be sprung. Diagram was drawn in a bit of a hurry and the 'S' didn't come out quite right.

This is looking fantastic, really enjoying watching the line grow. Love the way you've incorporated the tree into your station site. I'm looking forward to the next installment...

Thanks... Couldn't see much alternative to going round the tree, though I will no doubt regret it in due course. My justification for the feature is the tree on the up platform at Minffordd!

OK, a bit more progress at Llanfair.

Need to think about point control fairly urgently. (Being home made, the points lack Peco's over-centre spring.)

Word of the newly laid track spread quickly, and we were graced with a visit from the Branch Line Society.

We've got a bit further at the Tanyperth end of the line - this section was a bit of a swine to build, being less accessible than some other parts. (I do fit, so stock can be retrieved when necessary.)

Image

(The length of track beyond the buffers is just laid roughly in position to see how it will look.)

Pleased with how the view from Hendre is looking now.

Image

The current railhead is a bit hard to reach, and whilst this will be very temporary it seemed worth doing something to prevent any possible difficulties retrieving locos.

This is looking really good.

The signal box mock up looks just the job too.
Best Wishes

The sign should be gone by then - very much planning to have the continuous run completed by then (which links the line here at Tanyperth up with the sharply curved branch that enters the opposite end of Llanfair.)

The next job is to dig the pond. Thankfully not a terribly big one.

Glad you like it - having fun, but happy to have nearly finished in that awkward corner now.

The signal box is flipping huge - scaled from photographs of Tooban Junction box. Might end up shrinking it a bit. This will be a project for another winter, really - the hope would be to put a Modratec lever frame inside.

Continuous run would be awesome Richard! With your 4'r curves I might be able to achieve a smooth run with a rake of l&b carriages by then too!

Just a few overview photos - I had reason to be up on the air raid shelter roof on Saturday, so took the camera with me.

Llanfair ar y Ffos:

Image

Hendre (and the vital steaming-up bench):

Image

In the distance you can just see the extension from Tanyperth appearing, which will join up with the branch at Llanfair.

Image

Tried to get Photoshop Elements to do a panorama - a few bits got slightly mangled, but you get the overall idea.

Image

And just to give a clearer idea of the bits you can't see properly in the panorama, and the bits not quite built yet:

Image

Compare this view from (crumbs, is it?)nearly three years ago:

That's still the plan - certainly won't be looking finished, but still hopeful of getting right round by then by hook or by crook.
