I just went to the local hardware shop (its quite "four candles" in there) and asked for some wood preserver. Its a horrible fluid which is brushed on, reeks to high heaven and seems to get everywhere by capillary action. I know this isn't very helpful and I don't know if it works yet as I haven't had the buildings long enough to know!

Today was a steam up full of "firsts".
1. First fitted train ran with steam
2. First night run
3. First train through the new tunnel.
Not many photos I'm afraid, but here's an update with progress on the building project followed by my night photos

Was just about to ask if that check rail was a working one or not.... Guess gravity glue answers that question ;)
If it can be made full scale it can be made 16mm

Are the wires of your fences bent down because your cat keeps stepping on them?

Because that's how my dogs ruined my fence

Next door neighbours are having an extension built - this means the dividing wall (which the railway runs along) is having to be strengthened :?

Oh dear, that looks apocalyptic...

Presumably the railway is being protected under those sheets of ply, but I'm guessing those great big steels aren't doing something a whole load of good under there...

Good luck with getting up and running again...

Andrew.

If Im remember correctly this crumbling, unstable wall is protected by Heritage law?

Why the hell is it protected by heritage law?  Forgive me but to my untrained eyes it looks like an old garden wall that could really do with some work or replacing.
Wat makes it significant at this point because from what Iv seen over the last few years from Zachs reports its a real pain.

Those heritage wall lots should come round here they would have a field day with all the old walls round here!

A heritage wall in a garden? It's hidden from plain view! Ah well, you can always "accidentaly" break it.

What's a check rail and how does it work?

A check rail pulls the flanges of the wheels across so that the stock goes round a tight corner with less fuss and noise (in theory)

The garden still looks like the photo Greg posted. Most of my plants have now died and the pond has stagnated. I havn't been able to run the railway all summer.

And now I have to go back to university...

Presumably your lovely neighbours will be compensating you to repair all the damage their construction has done.

Not much going on DVLR wise at the moment as I'm at University.
I returned home for the weekend for family issues only to find most of my work has been undone by the builders and a dog. Its going to be a busy winter.
