why not use a rowlands mix, put a little peat in the cement when mixing and it should grow a nice mossy growth after a wee while.

The Rowlands Mix would make it too porous, it would soak up the water and either crumble straight away, or not survive the first frost.

Planted some trees along the top road as a scenic break
(You might have to imagine the road in)
Image
Got a 6 pack of saxifrage as well - Will make a nice meadow or in the very least cover up some of the mud!

Bit of a work in progress but this is going to be a ploughed field so I can recreate the photo from the Mid Suffolk Light Railway.

I've been a little busy, door mat was cut to shape to fit the contours and a fence built from some scrap wood found in a skip sawn to size and drilled then soaked in wood preserver. Each post has 6 inches of coat hanger wire anchoring it into the soil (Thanks to Narrow Minded for that tip) Garden wire is then threaded through the lot of them. Its a very fiddly process to get them all in position, upright (ish) with the wire not too wobbly. I think with the tractor in place there is a vague resemblance with the Middy photo.
River Butley on the way out to Aldeburgh with a mixed comprising a 4 wheel 1st/3rd composite, an empty vinegar tanker and a gaurds van

And on the return journey with the 1st/3rd composite, a cattle wagon for Woodbridge Market and a guards van again.

Still a lot to do here including the retaining walls under the bridge, the bridge itself and bedding in the carpet field, the road needs relaying and the track needs sweeping off back to the ballast although I suspect a re-ballast is in order.

have you considered giving the carpet a brush over with watery brown paint? just enough to hide the blue fibers but not give the whole thing a uniform solid brown colour

Maybe, I'll see how it weathers down.
With traffic on the Coprolite Branch increasing and Nos 1,2 and 3 requiring increasing maintenance the time has come for a new loco for the DVLR.

What will DVLR No. 4 "River Tang" be I wonder...

I'm going to guess that it could be one of the following :
Accucraft
Edrig,
Caradoc,
mortimer,
Roundhouse
millie,
bertie,
sammie,
Regner
vincent,
Willie,
Chaloner,
Mamod
Mk2,
Mk1,
Brunel,

Or something else :P
No one expects the SPANISH ACQUISITION!!!

Sadly not a forum project loco, that's a very long term plan.
I already have a roundhouse, an Accucraft and a regner.
Its something not by the above manufacturers and it has a different valve gear/ cylinder layout to my current locomotives

It isn't a Janet. and it won't be an NGG garret. It is, I can reveal an 0-4-0.
