Peckforton Light Railway update

In addition to the bigger projects already mentioned on the forum ( ie the brewery and sand hoppers), I've managed a few jobs in the great outdoors.

I've reinstated the fencing (ex GRS) behind the platform at Peckforton Station and installed another running in board.

I've also repaired the cast concrete overbridge which got damaged when I was lopping and felling trees around the garden in the Autumn.

As some of you will know, I use our little conservatory as my workshop and struggle for storage space, so I've erected some additional shelving. All I can say is, my wife is extremely tolerant .... :?

It's been a while since I posted about developments on the PLR. Partly because of other things like holidays, family matters and life in general distracted me. But also because, after a spate of 3D printing, I ended up with quite a few models to construct and then paint.

After a (very) brief foray into 0-16.5, I decided to re-size all the 3D drawings and then produce some of the coaches and a wagon in 16mm scale.

It was only after constructing them that GregH asked why I hadn't constructed them in 15mm scale ( F scale), which has now become my default (as it represents 3' gauge on 45mm track. Good question, thought I ..... so I rescaled the drawings again and constructed another rake in 15mm scale.

You may have noticed the 16mm scale items aren't in PLR livery and aren't equipped with PLR couplings. That's because I intend to sell them on - once I've tidied them up a bit and finished them off.

In addition, I've tweaked the design of the Southwold Cleminson open wagon to provide me with two more variants.

Although I've equipped them with PLR couplings, I am wondering whether I actually have sufficient storage space for them, so they too might end up on eBay.

They all look very good Rik.
Does your comment about a "brief foray" mean that your 0-16.5 is completely dead?

After contacting the curator of the transport museum in Londonderry, I was given the key dimensions of their surviving CDR luggage van and so I completely redesigned the model I'd made previously which was based solely on photos (and ended up considerably smaller than it ought to have been). I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Not entirely. I still have the models (apart from a brake van which I sold on eBay - raising only £14)

The GVT brake van was also re-sized (to 15mm scale) and actually appeared in my last video.

PS - Dean's (DesignScanPrint) guard figure is actually 16mm scale - I'll have to get him to do me a 15mm scale version

That is a beautifully crisp print. Was there much filling involved?

Very little on that one. I used my better printer for most of it.

I really like the CDR van..
The wriggly-tin roof, is particularly effective.

Thanks chaps
Took a while but pleased with how they eventually turned out.
I'll probably print another couple of GVT coaches to complete the rake. Just trying to decide whether to draw a couple of the other styles!

Rik,
Thanks for posting the drawings for this brake van. I'm in need of another van myself and had it in mind to ask if you would be so kind, once I'd finished what I'm currently working on.

No problem. I'll tidy up and post the GVT coaches in the next couple of days
