Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Here is an update on the coaches. I have tried painting one in all green with white upper panels, I think it looks good and I prefer it to livery b (even though it looks miles better with the green raised to just below the windows). It helps make the coaches look smaller because they stand out less. However, it does look very green. Here are some photos of all three coaches, the new livery, and how big they are compared to some of my other stock. Sorry about the quality of the photos; they were taken on my phone in low light levels.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
George, here's a picture of my IP coaches. The lighting wasn't great and they have a gloss finish so they weren't easy to photograph.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Thank you for the photos, I will use a livery very similar to them as I think it suits the coaches well.

George, despite being well over 10 years old, and not the most detailed coaches I like 'em. If I came across any I'd certainly add them to the pair I already have. I look forward to seeing your finished rake.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
History was made at the WDLR last Sunday, we had our first ever visitors to the railway! Bruce and Peter of the West Cornwall Light Railway came over for the afternoon, both bringing an engine and stock. Bruce brought a Regner Vincent and Peter brought his Roundhose Karen. We made the most of the sunny afternoon with some good running. I steamed my Accucraft LnB Taw. Here are some photos of the afternoon.

Looks like you had a good running session, great pictures!
Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
It does look like a good time was had by all. A red Karen, that's something different!

Some great photos Georgeβ¦. Love all those locos and the Karen looks brilliant steaming in the sunshine.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Here is another update on the railway:
Last and the present weekends I have constructed the road between St Kew and Trethevan halt. it was made in the same fashion as the platform and level crossing but with one difference; a groove was cut along the centre of the road and filled with cement 'crumbs'. this was then levelled flush with the road surface. This gives the road a country lane feel as grit tends to build up in the centre of lanes. To continue this the remaining road surface was lightly brushed to create a rougher texture and bring out some of the grit in the sand. I am also hoping that it attracts moss growth. After, some model town walling was was painted up and spiked in to the 'green' cement. Finally, some MYOB was planted around the road to blend it in. This area is still unfinished, there will be a couple of buildings at the end of the road to represent St kew Highway village. To develop the end of the road, the unloading area has also been cemented to tidy it up.
Here are some photos of the area as it looks now:

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
That is all looking very tasty George. I particularly like the shot along the road with the train on the crossing.
Not too sure about the price tag on the Spirea though. However I must confess that when I first noticed it, and before reading it, I thought it was supposed to be one of those hand painted signs you see at the side of the road advertising a pub in the next village!

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
I think the road surface looks just like a country lane, great work.
Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Looks great. Roads seem to be particularly tricky to reproduce in miniature. Clever move to roughen up the centre.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Nice work and shown to advantage by the low angle shots, well done.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Looking good! Love the photos of your busy day from your last post too, especially the one of two trains passing...
Cheers,
Andrew.

Looks great George. I too love the low angle shot of the road and the level crossing.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway
Hi all,
I must apologise for this update being overdue, I had a large electronics assignment for college on the go which was prioritised. This prevented me doing a lot of work on the railway. After this week was over I finally had time to do some modelling but I went to stoke over the weekend to watch the football match (a treat for my dads birthday) so I had little time for posting. The next week I was set back more by my email not working so I couldn't change the size of the image files. Fortunately, it was fixed today so I am now able to post photos of progress from the past weeks in a large update so here goes...
First of all, my dad decided to sell his Cheddar Iver because there is a new engine on shed: a Cheddar Iver (but with a tender and in much better nick). Its also in blue - hopefully not for long though!
Secondly, I have started to detail my rolling stock further by adding Cambrian bolt heads and dummy brake gear. I am very pleased with how this has turned out as it has completely transformed them. There is still many other wagons to detail.
A while back an IP engineering Lucy was bought second hand with the intention of it being an engine fro be used for when I Can't be bothered to steam up. It had a poor paint job that had suffered from sun damage and was peeling in places. I had never realised but the postage company actually offer a specialist service that I like to call Kit unbuilding . The locomotive had arrived conveniently in flat pack form - a complete transformation from how it was sent . Undeterred, I set about stripping the parts of old glue and paint and started to assemble the engine. Next, some filler was used to get smoother joins between parts. a coat of primer and a couple of maroon
paint and I had a decent looking loco. I added some weight to it and then left It in this state until last week when the advent of cold weather made me realise I needed a battery diesel. looking at the model I had been building, I thought It looked a bit plain so I set about adding rivets, louvres and access hatches. It is still unfinished but I have wired it up and gave it a test on the track and it could pull 10 wagons comfortably! I need to add more rivets and some details (not to forget the rest of the cab) before I finish it with a coat of matt varnish.
Finally, I have finished detailing the interior of my IP Talyllyn guards van by adding working hatches. I have been very pleased with this kit as it has made a nice model.
