My first railway - The Westmorland Light Railway
Re: My first railway - The Westmorland Light Railway
And no we are finally up to date. I hope semi regular updates as bits get done.
So following on from all the advice on building with foamex, I have very nearly completed the Jackson's miniatures signal box.
A few little bits to finish up for phase 1, porch ridge tiles, chimney top, handrail and guttering. But that's in hand. I am pondering an interior, its painted out and was given a wooden look floor, but I think I will wait until the line gets built, I plan to light the buildings, so will wait and see how things look.
I now love foamex board so a box of binnie parts were ordered, so scratch building of so rolling stock has commenced (I know I need to finish one project before I start the next really)
I thought the Pway team would appreciate some hopper wagons to drop ballast, they will also be great for coal deliveries and gravel from the quarries as full freight services are resumed.

Nice spend on a nice loco. Like the look of your signal box, it's looking fantastic.

Well another weekend lost to foamex, lost but not wasted. completed one hopper wagon and added a pair of stake wagons as well to the WLR inventory. even remembered to take a few pics as I went along.
I'm rather happy with the outcome, just a bit of weathering to make them look used, and to finish the 2nd hopper wagon off.

Nice finish and detail, you must be pleased with the end result.
Re: My first railway - The Westmorland Light Railway
It was just the way my weekend went this on, I was off and the boss was at work so I got plenty of time on my own to get on with bits. I blame this site for giving me too many ideas.
I got the wood wagons of into the homemade spray booth and gave the a weathering. I was already really happy how they looked, now i'm really pleased.
Once the cut wood for the load has dried out I will break out the hot glue gun and stick them together as a load, it will allow them to be quickly removed for an empty look as well.

I have just looked back over your thread and you are adding to your collection nicely, as well as maintaining a high level of finish. All looking good for your line when you get started.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: My first railway - The Westmorland Light Railway
Great job on those wagons and your weathering is excellent.
