Got to say that my habit of taking ground-level shots with minimal scale cues is a cause of constant puzzlement to non-garden railwayers who can't work out how large the models are...

Thank you so much. The surroundings of the railway have got rather wild compared to some gardens shown in this forum, but that has its benefits sometimes.

It sure does, I think the way it blends in looking like the real thing, is brilliant.

Great shots. Very reminiscent of rural narrow gauge railways of yesteryear.

Top marks, that is a lovely little line you have there and an excellent expanse that Garden Railways don't need to be complicated nor labour intensive. It's just perfect for the stock you have.

Well, it's exactly a year since I posted for the first time, so let's make a year-on comparison...

Oh dear! It doesn't help when the lawnmower breaks... (Also not an operating day, so buildings, station furniture and figures haven't come out.)

Still, it's a bit better than it was nine days ago!

Oh I remember those days of not playing trains a few days due to the rain and coming back to find the set of Apocalypse Now taking over the line.

Shows how quickly the garden will take back what's hers if we don't keep on top, hey....

Any advice for construction of the Northcastle extension gratefully received!

And fifteen months on from that comment being made, we've actually managed to move a shed and enable that to happen!

True. Then again, there's been virtually no running this summer anyway - no time after work and family!

And we have managed some running, including steam and the smell of burning meths! OK, it's not the most accomplished bit of railway modelling (or indeed photography) ever, but it happened and it was good. New Binnie skips in action too, and a trial of a new location for the signalbox.

For me it's the sight of a train that's running on a line that is so great about this hobby, so don't think you haven't achieved anything because you have. And as for the quality of photographs, we can't all be David Baileys or Lord Snowden's. So well done..

Thanks for the positive comments!
I didn't manage any decent still photos of the Mamod really (and the fire was out and steam exhausted by the time I took the one above, not that taking pictures was the aim of the exercise) and I do feel a bit in awe of the achievements of some who post here...
But absolutely: the idea was to enjoy it with those members of the family who were interested, and that was achieved.
