Re: North Avenue Line
That's a huge structure. I presume it will be living outside permanently? According to my poor maths that's about 85 scale feet?

Re: North Avenue Line
This will go inside the lighthouse top part and turn .iv got a rc car gearbox and motor that I will modify to turn this part with a very bright led bulb in the centre I also have some mirrors to go inside to help reflect the light .

Re: North Avenue Line
Remember to make bag for the top of the lighthouse so that sunlight shining back through those lenses does not have an unfortunate effect on your lighthouse. I am sure that you started a camp fire, or fried beetles using a magnifying glass in your yoof.

Traffic Pattern? What pattern? Spuds out; grain in, but cattle, sheep and passengers are a lot less predictable.
Re: North Avenue Line

Re: North Avenue Line
Lighthouse update fixed some mirror plastcard inside the part that will turn .iv also fixed some mercarno to the end that will attach the gearbox. The gearbox is from an tamiya rc car with the diff locked on one side and iv got a model boat motor that should turn slowly on very low volts.the builbs are 12v car leds

Re: North Avenue Line
I'm hoping to get some more done tonight and will post some more pics. I got a lot of plastcard for Christmas so some of it will go towards finishing the lighthouse
Re: North Avenue Line
You have put some real thought into this build Jim. I love the gearbox and motor, a real thought out idea.

Looking good, Jim. Those bulbs are stunningly bright, you'll need to wear shades to look at it

It's like a Blue Peter creation but one you actually want to build!

Re: North Avenue Line
I really like your dented quarry skips and a realistic well - worn look. Take a look at my 'backscene on a fence' post. You have a lot of fence.
Re: North Avenue Line
Very slow progress on the lighthouse as works busy at the moment.iv decides to make the roof look like it's Copper. I sprayed it with copper spray paint then iv weatherd it too look green

Re: North Avenue Line
I like the effect you have created there Jim, that colour is very difficult to get right. The old artists used a trick galled 'glazing' where the paint was mixed in clear varnish and brushed all over to give a regular finish but allowing shades of base colour to show through. A matt varnish might give that effect here?
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: North Avenue Line
I agree with Peter there, Jim. The matt varnish may allow the copper to show through.
The old artists can teach us a lot, hey Peter.....
