A...mazing!

Not bad.... Seriously brilliant job done. What are you going to put that it Grant

Got the major parts of the Twin Rig saw bench done today.
The two long beams at the top go across the building and pick up the verticals to carry the weight and keep the upper saw tracking correctly. Still to do a log carriage and track, then the main steam engine. Should have enough old steam plant bits to make that. Then all the other little bits.
The saws are in brass bearings with oilers, and the roller bench works( not really sure why!!) thinking I should make it work, still working out how to reverse the top saw.

PS funny, I agreed with GTB when he said "just a large roof would do" so much for that idea!!

There's been a lot of research, and quite a few headaches getting the Log Carriage together and working. It's been built to take a scale 5ft diam. log ( the one shown on the carriage hasn't been squared to length yet) and is of the type where the Sawyer can ride the carriage. The track probably running the full length of the building. A close up of the Setworks that advances the log to the saw line. Grant.

Rik, as I have your sawmill build bookmarked and have looked at all the machinery you put in, I'll be happy if mine looks as good. Especially your belts and pulley set up. I was hoping to just give the appearance of a mill from a distance, but yours requires not only looking in but up as well. You've set the bar very high as far as detail goes. Really didn't realize the work this was going to involve.

Thanks Aaron, this forum has inspired me on many occasions, glad my stuff can inspire others.
In building the sawmill I'm currently working on, reviewing Rik's pics. of his I realized I was missing two vital details on the log carriage. So into the workshop build the missing bits, now I'm happy.

Thank you, Grant. My model is very much a representation, whereas yours is definitely a scale model. I'm glad you've found some useful info, presumably on my blog.

The Sawmill has finally reached a point where I can see what I need to do for the mill yard, and what needs tidying up that I didn't notice whilst building but shows up in pictures.
