The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Where did I put that uncoupler?
Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Not being into that genre of movies I had not realized Luke Skywalker was so popular.
I also run a large RC diesel tug which has a figure in the wheelhouse, a young boy on seeing same raced away to his mother exclaiming "Luke Skywalker is driving the boat mummy".
So thanks for identifying my loco driver, now known as Lucas (tis 1925-7 you know!! )

Boiled some more water this morning. Gave the Hunslet a turn. Expecting GTB this afternoon, so thought I'd get some running done before hand.
Of course there's always yard work to complete.

As ever wonderful. I think the colours you use add greatly to the realism. Do you mix them yourself as Peter Jones did to represent "scale" colour?

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Thank you for the comments, but not sure which colours your referring to. The Shay is Graeme's (GTB of this forum) the Hunslet is mine.

Very, very nice Grant. Once again the atmosphere simply oozes from the pictures. I always have to look twice when looking at photos of your railway to be sure I'm not looking at the real thing!

Wonderful images Grant, the muted colours are perfect and show up perfectly in your beautiful clear light.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Thanks you all for the nice comments. I hope inspiration is helping to keep us all in this enjoyable hobby.
As regards the colours, when young, I always thought that most English model railways I saw in books looked like toys. The colours were so bright an un-realistic to me. Although I've not been to England, having seen much of your landscape on TV and such, I now realize that your countries landscape is really like that. Your greens are so vibrant, pictures of fields do look like patch work quilts.
The Australian landscape is so very different, very old, and I guess some what "parched" by comparison. And we have "the light" as artists say. Maybe that's why our colours are more muted, though our earth colours are very vibrant in some areas. The period I'm modelling also was a time of more constraint with things like colour in clothing buildings etc. so that's what I'm trying to capture.
I do have a large tin of Matting Agent that I use, and gloss paints don't play much part in my scheme of things.
Hope that answers your question.

Stunning! Your pictures are always dripping with atmosphere. The Hunslet and the Shay look equally at home there.

Always nice to see people modelling Australian stuff, great photos!
Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Not much offering in the way of passengers or goods on a Tuesday. A short train heading for Nayook.
Entering Banksia tunnel.
Not much on the up trip either.

Beautiful shots Grant. I love the culvert in the first shot, I suspect it performs a functional purpose. The bridge in the last shot is a very impressive structure too! Your line always looks so realistic and I always have to look twice to make sure it's less than full sized!
