wartime weekend at the NYMR

Post by Matt » Sun Oct 12, 2014 2:05 pm

Yesterday I went down to the NYMR's wartime weekend gala. having gone down in my normal clothes last year, I decided this year to go in some clothes more fitting for the period.

First photo from the day, a shot from under the overall roof at Newcastle whilst I was waiting for my train to Middlesborough.

Arrived at Grosmont just before midday, just in time to see the visiting 28xx class run round the train.

The NYMR's residential Q6 pulled up alongside just before the train departed.

Below is a video of the trip from Grosmont to Goathland. Unfortunately, the camera's battery died just as we were coming into Goathland station, so I couldn't take any pictures on the first trip.

Having got some new batteries for my camera, I got back to Grosmont to see Sir Nigel Gresley running round, and The Green Knight arriving from Whitby.

Below are some shots from inside Grosmont Shed.

Arrived back at the station to find Sir Nigel ready to depart. I decided to go up to Goathland and then take another train back.

Having got back to Grosmont, I spent the next couple of hours taking photos as various trains came and went.

Overall, it was a very good day. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.

You look good there. There were a few home guards at Goathland yesterday.

Great pics, thanks for sharing. I was meant to be up today but decided on a sleep in rather than a 6:30am start!    I still seemed to spend money though.... My friends picking me some 50th Division patchs and a belt....
Heres me (furtherest on the right) in my first battle last year, exciting stuff!:

Thanks

Thanks for the excellent pictures - it was a shame that the signallers at Grosmont Crossing insisted on wearing their hi-viz jackets!

Blimey, it's years since I visited the NYMR. Your photos certainly show it off very well, there are some lovely looking stations - and the trains aren't bad either. Maybe time for a revisit.

The hat definitely suits you Matt.
