Bye bye Gelert

Post by JMORG » Mon Jul 01, 2013 8:48 am

This weekend was Gelert's last two days in service. Although I might get a lot of flack for saying this, but I think Gelert should be overhauled as soon as Russell is (finally) finished (WHHR should make a fund for her)!
Does anyone else think that Gelert goes well with the Heritage of the railway?

Hello!

I agree that it would be great to bring her back to use if possible, although I guess their Baldwin is going to be the priority after Russell - they've already got a new boiler I believe?

Gelert may not be part of the WHR's pre-preservation story but, like Mountaineer and The Ladies on the other side of town, she's earned a place in the line's history since then.

Until restoration can happen at least she can be kept warm, dry and on show at Gelert's Farm - not that that's done much for Karen's chances of returning to steam!

Cheers,

Andrew..
