UNESCO bid for North Wales slate industry

Post by JMORG » Thu Dec 05, 2019 5:35 pm

Just seen in the Talyllyn magazine that the UNESCO bid for North Wales slate is being submitted in January. What do you all think of the chances of the bid being accepted? If so, could potentially it release a fair amount of money to help maintain the area?
I do hope it goes through; I'd be surprised if it doesn't. If you consider the Indian Hill railways have been run into the ground by IR and are still UNESCO funded, it seems logical that the North Wales heritage industry (which is much better looked after) should be accepted.
