My Old Car…is now a TV STAR
Anne still watch’s Emmerdale, I haven’t for 18 months now..She was watching the catch up this morning and she recognised a number plate in Cain’s Garage…she shouted me to come and look, but I didn’t get there in time, so we went on to the catch up on the big telly…anyway after losing the will to live again watching that program, it eventually came to the part Anne saw…
Lo and behold I couldn’t believe my eyes….instant recognition…
This is what I/We saw…

Wow! Must have been a spine tingling moment. I doubt I will ever see any of my old cars in a TV program, apart from scrapheap challenge....

It sure was Rik, there are some things off her, like the badges that she won at the shows. She was a five time show winner, the spot lights that were under the front bumper and the roof wind deflector. Her wheels are off a MK 3, which I only had her when I drove her around, going to shows I put on her TX wheels, except for one which was at Stanley Park in Blackpool, where she still won best in show.
Her she is parked outside our house.

Nice, a Granny with that smashing Ford v6 engine.
A classic hooligans car, great to drive with lots of grin factor.
It makes me think wistfully of my long gone Capri.

Beautiful car there Rod, it takes a lot of effort to maintain a car in that condition.
My previous Volvo Torslanda estate was a show car, I kept it in beautiful condition and well maintained but following my strokes I couldn't drive for a year so sold it. The purchaser sent a low backed lorry to collect it without seeing the car and it went to film company in London. Unfortunately its on-screen moment of glory was seeing it going over a cliff!

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: My Old Car…is now a TV STAR
Oh heck Peter, now that would of given me another heart attack.
I did spend some time keeping her nice, I would wash and polish her very week and the small detailing that most don’t do, like drying behind the bumpers and even at the back of the alloys, you would be surprised that how some judges at these shows do put their fingers behind these things.
I was lucky in one respect that she had leather seats, but even they got a slightly warm water wash and protection with a very expensive protector (at the time £15).
I must admit, I do love the old classics from the 40’s right up to the 80’s, but sadly both Anne and I don’t get to any shows now, it’s funny how you lose touch with things you did isn’t it.

I love classic Ford's and that was a cracker Rod. My Olympic blue 1100 mk1 Escort was my first car....paid for the wife's engagement ring when I sold it in 85 so we still got a link to it.
The Mk2 Harrier, what a Ford....

Re: My Old Car…is now a TV STAR
I must admit I do love the Fords myself…although the Vauxhalls and Rovers are very nice too Derek. :thumb right:
My mate did have a brand new Capri when we were knocking around together and the amount of girls that would flock around the car was amazing !!! I will say no more on that…

Re: My Old Car…is now a TV STAR
Very smart. Why is it as soon as I look at a picture of that Granada type I immediately hear the signature tune from the Sweeney and Inspector Regan shouting "Nick 'im" at Carter. Now who on here would have had a Jag' Mk II for it to chase through a pile of strategically placed large cardboard boxes.
Re: My Old Car…is now a TV STAR
It may have been used in the Sweeny, but it was in the Professionals too! Can’t remember the guys name but it was the boss of Bodie and Doyle.
It seems every time the old Granada’s are mentioned people only associate them with he Sweeey.
I did by the way have a MK 2 Jaguar some years ago, but unfortunately that is one car I had to get rid off because I couldn’t at the time afford to run it. So does that make me a gangster too.
That was a 3.2 and it was British Racing Green, same has my X Type now and that is a car that Anne loves too.....

This is so unreal…..I got a phone call from the guy I had sold it too last night….the jest of the conversation was, wish I hadn’t sold it now…apparently he sold it to someone else not long after he bought her from me, because his wife thought it was to big
