How did I miss including Crime of the Century? Particularly like 'Rudy' - complete with railway sound effects!

Long time since I looked. My grandmother did like Al Bowley as I remember. But I have got Gracie Fields at the Holborn Empire 1933. It's a boxed set, 12" 78's. It's original. Before the local concil's censors got their blue pencils out.

I expect she did, he was supposed to have been a bit of a "hunk" in his day although the Luftwaffe put paid to that. My favourite is "the very thought of you" but it has a crack so you get that ticking noise if you play it.

Any Soul music really, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classical, anything that keeps me tapping my feet or fingers, although the dancing doesn’t happen for long nowadays, maybe 45 seconds….

That could almost be my list too Rod, with the exception of jazz! I'm more into classical now, especially Beethoven, which is timeless.

Peter, the Jazz is not really my thing, it does have some very nice Sax on some but it is the Soul part that I enjoy the most. And the classical I have always enjoyed, I am not saying I know who’s who or anything, but I do love music and not too much of that stuff they do today.
Ok I am sounding like our parents I suppose, but at least the bands played their own instruments and are called bands. Not getting into a debate on todays music has I don’t listen to much of it really, but what I do hear I don’t particularly like. :) :)

I'm in agreement with Rod. Classic FM, radio 2 or local BBC radio ( for traffic news) in the car. I resist all attempts from passengers for radio 1. The modern stuff doesn't do anything for me either. I find it irritating. I'd rather have silence.

Silence for me too, Radio 1 is DJ’s talking about themselves… :puke:

Before 10 am it has to be Radio 4, I enjoy the sound of squirming politicians on the Today program. I cannot manage with anything loud in the mornings, the current wife listens to some awful local radio breakfast show and it makes me want to bite the furniture.

Agree with you Jim, radio 4 anytime except the Archers! I also enjoy footy on radio 5. Now have a grudge with classic FM as they didn't play Dives and Lazarus (music to make you cry) as promised when we went to the Albert Hall recently ( cheap seats booked as a last minute treat :D )

I used to enjoy the Archers but I can't listen to it anymore as it just annoys me, Woman's Hour is also out for various reasons.

I was shocked into shame to discover -

Walking the dogs in the rain this morning and had a thought - does anybody else like the Smiths?

The Queen is dead - best album ever and Mr M's clever lyrics are a wonder to me.

Like a bit of Nick Drake as well.

How these two escaped my original list is beyond me.
