Post by Hancockshire » Tue Jun 30, 2009 8:21 pm

We all know & love the lemon battery, so what if there was a train powered by such scientific fuel?

Not that I've heared of, but i''m sure someone will try and have a go now it has been suggested. I suspect that the current will be too low to move an engine though, let alone pull a train

I think you would need a hell of a lot of lemons for that to work!!! And with all that weight, the power to weight ratio would still be completely the wrong way around!

very low power... you would never make a train move with it.

Right people, I have split away the stuff about lemon squeezy bottle and Davros to the off topic sction, so that you can carry on about doctor who without the chance of anyone moaning about it being off topic.
The new topic is here

Lemons and Coffee

Post by Crackingjob » Thu Aug 27, 2009 8:41 pm

There have been soda powered ones, wind ,compressed air etc...even one powered by a stirling engine (found that in an old SMT magazine)

but Coffee!!!!

Apparently many years ago in Brazil they had too much and a fall in world prices, and coffee was being dumped until they compressed it in to bricks and used it in locos.

Sorry to dig up an old topic but....

Lemon power then, ok so the amount of lemons needed to move train power/weight issue. How about lemon power supplying power via overhead wires. Then the loco could be made really light?

Just an idea anyway/
