Post by Mitch stack » Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:14 am

Hi Folks, i have been given a Bachmann Climax with DCC and Sound and would it be Possible to convert it over to Battery Power/Radio Control in the loco without a Trailing truck?

Not something I've tried, but Tony Walsham at Remote Control Systems has a couple of links on the 'how-to' page of his website where he fitted r/c, batteries and a sound card into the recent version of the Climax, without needing a trail car.

I knew Tony for a long time before I moved into garden scale and his service is good in my experience, plus he's in Oz. My Garratt and Walker Railcar have RCS gear fitted and I've started converting the Fowler PM to r/c with RCS bits.

I think John Robinson in NZ has also written up his conversion of one to a NZ version of a class B Climax and managed to fit battery r/c in to the loco. The article was in Garden Rail some years ago from memory.

Regards,
Graeme
