As Rik knows I had a few RC issues along the way which are not mentioned as they bare no relation to the thread, but it certainly made the task more challenging :)
Fortunately, you're more than happy to tinker and twiddle and get things working again.

Well done fitting all that into such a tiny loco.

Don't worry about the rats nest of wires, my Brandbright conversion was a squeeze as well!

Honestly I think it's the tinkering and problem solving bit that I actually enjoy the most, I might curse lots while going through it all, even give up at times and walk away from it, but when it's all complete and working, you stand back, proud as punch, look back and say, do you know, I really enjoyed that. I think it's the challenges that keep me so interested.

By the way, if anyone has a "fault" with their Deltang based equipment and it starts doing really really strange things, like the motor running on for no apparent reason, or speeding up and slowing down for no reason, please check the battery in the TX or even the state of the battery in the RX before ripping everything out and apart, just to save you some valuable time, lol ;)

It was indeed a very tight squeeze and I am pleased my plan of batteries worked out so well in the end. I certainly wouldn't attempt to fit it in anything smaller, well, quite simply, it just wouldn't fit, lol.

The smallest loco I've converted to battery rc was an 0 gauge Dapol Terrier tank for a customer. Never again! It wasn't so much the logistics of fitting everything in, that was the interesting part, it was the reassembly. There were so many tiny and fragile detailing parts which broke at the slightest touch. I took off as many as I could when dismantling, but some were not removable without breakage.

Actually, I have converted a smaller loco - an IP Engineering plate frame Simplex. Even squeezed two soundcards and a speaker in as well.

That is some wiring in there and you're correct about getting lots of satisfaction from completing something Steve. Even more so for me if it works...

Love that Diesel also, really very smart. :thumbright: :thumbright:

Forgot to mention the video....Absolutely brilliant, I love your line very much and your skilfulness in taking a video with a mobile phone whilst still operating the loco. I have seen a lot of videos were they seem to be all over the place.....

I can't pretend to even begin to understand the electrics, but the finished product looks and sounds fantastic, and it runs beautifully too - well done!

All the best,

Andrew.

I agree great loco and well modified. Electrics scares me too. A black art as far as I am concerned. I can change a plug and a light bulb and that's my limit.

Black Art so far as I am concerned too. Wiring up the motor or a couple of motors is about as far as I can get, and even then it is a bit 'iffy.' I'm b*ggered as soon as it involves a wiring diagram,

Traffic Pattern? What pattern? Spuds out; grain in, but cattle, sheep and passengers are a lot less predictable.

Thank you for all your very kind comments, very nice.

The electrics can be scary at first but with the help of people on here and the odd blog site and video, you can usually muddle your way through most things.

As for the video, I did struggle to change points as well as take the video and control the loco all at the same time, lol :D
