Pressure gauge failure.

Post by River Lin » Thu May 08, 2014 7:32 pm

Hi all.
After priming badly (my fault I'm afraid ) the pressure gauge on my 1995 kit built Lady Anne has failed and is now stuck on zero. I would happily buy a replacement from RH but would like to repair the one I have to keep this part of the loco original. Any ideas or is it a case of forget it and move on.
David.

I'd take off the pressure gauge, drain any water out of it, blow any
water out of the siphon and try again.

They are small instruments, and I'd expect very difficult if not impossible to repair. Originality is all very well, however, personally I'd get a new one.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Hi all.
Tried the remove, dry and blowout. Maybe a new one is the way to.

Personally I'd go with a new one too, as a matter of safety over anything else. I agree that it would be nice to get it working, but if your loco were mine, I would have a doubt in my mind if it were reading correctly/at all.

See if RH could repair it? Purchase a spare though, for backup.

You could take the oportunity to upgrade to a smaller gauge.
