Looking very nice, indeed
What attracted my attention though (and is puzzling me) are four bolts on the axleboxes (inside).
What are these about?

Why don't you use hex bolts Dave out of interest?

Thanks lads
I like roundheads to represent the abundant rivets on the original
The four bolts hold on the separate back plates, I didn't have thick enough stock for the usual milled flange arrangement

understand, thank you (although I'd have probably silver soldered it to get the right thickness?).
Having said so, there is no right or wrong way of doing it

I'm back on with the project after a few distractions. It's now turn for the smokebox, but before that I needed to increase the wheel recess to keep the appearance in line with the other locos

I'm doing a steel smokebox again, as steel is what I have. I'll paint it internally this time.
Here's the marked-out front plate. Who else uses their digital calipers for scribing lines?

Hi Dave,
Do you use 16 gauge on this type of project?
Do you paint internally with gal?
Thanks Tim

It's 1.6mm Tim, I'll just use ordinary household oil based enamel. The last one wasn't coated with anything except steam oil for a year before I started coal firing
