That's lovely Tony. You'll have to make a boiler!

Hi Dave,

That's lovely Tony. You'll have to make a boiler!

Believe it or not someone in another group has offered me an original boiler and another a lend of his 300 to make a copy of its body work; that is if nobody comes up with some body parts.

Regards Tony.

Hi,

I have bought some replica Bowman buffers from Toy Train Spares.

And the boiler has arrived.

The paint has been removed.

The boiler looks in reasonable condition with only a couple of issues with some bad soldering on the steam pipe and safety valve bush.

These have been removed and will be replaced along with a hand rail knob which is missing.

I have another project on the go so it might be a bit before I continue with this one.

Regards Tony.

Hi Tony,

If those parts are silver soldered how did you remove them?

Hi,

If those parts are silver soldered how did you remove them?

The boiler is soft soldered together, I don't think Bowman ever used hard solder. So it was just a matter of heating the boiler and waiting for the solder to melt before removing the fittings.

Regards Tony.
