Tamiya masking tape
Do you really need the dispenser sold with the tape or can you get away with buying a refill roll on it's own and make do without?

Re: Tamiya masking tape
Why would you need a dispenser? The tape needs to be held by hand in all sorts of angular ways to the work and a dispenser would only get in the way.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Re: Tamiya masking tape
They sell a tape dispenser with tape which costs more than just the tape on it's own so I will just buy the tape after what you have just saidPeter Butler wrote: βMon Jan 14, 2019 7:27 pm Why would you need a dispenser? Re: Tamiya masking tape
You certainly don't need the dispenser to use the tape - and I don't dispense my tape from the dispenser. I do store the tape in the dispenser though as it keeps the edges in good condition.

I agree. With masking the edges are important and that's the reason I too keep all my Tamiya tape in the dispenser.

Re: Tamiya masking tape
I've never seen Tamiya tape availble without the dispenser here in Oz, but it's a while since I bought any........tom_tom_go wrote: βMon Jan 14, 2019 6:40 pm Do you really need the dispenser sold with the tape or can you get away with buying a refill roll on it's own and make do without?
Since I am allowed to share the house by the resident felines, I keep it in the dispenser. Left open on the workbench the exposed adhesive picks up fur and other debris over time and furry masking tape is the last thing I need when painting. It's also easier to find the free end of the tape when it's in a dispenser.

Re: Tamiya masking tape
I went to HobbyCraft at lunch and it cost Β£2.50 for 6mm roll, 10 metres worth.
I will store it in a plastic sealed tub or chinese takeaway tray.
