7/8ths diesel kits
Other than Model Earth Design who else offers kits for 7/8ths diesels?

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
I'd like to but TBH the interest on the 7/8ths forum was minimal. Probably because of my "keep it simple" approach. For now I'm just going to make one for myself. I have some different motor and gear combinations to try out. Don't have any suitably sized wheels though.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
That's a shame Michael because I like your approach to kits and a laser cut diesel from you would work well with your existing skip kits.
I would not need anything other than a motor set up as I would want to add my own R/C and sound.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
It would just be a basic loco with a low price tag to match. I was hoping to use the Polybak when that arrives as it can be molded to give a rounded hood.
My main concern is the wheels. I need to have at least 400pcs made, preferably more, to keep the cost of them in check. However 7/8ths modellers are particulary fussy when it comes to wheels and I'm concerned I could be stuck with wheels I can't sell/use.
Suggestions for a simple full size diesel to base it on would be more than welcome.
If I ever manage to get that elusive fiber laser I would love to make an all-steel diesel.

If you can make this with cab then count me in:

Bigger the better to allow for batteries, R/C and sound.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
I couldn't make a Ruston like that. I don't have the skill or facilities to make those detailed castings.

Then do it your way and allow others to add detail as they see fit
Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
Tom, have you seen the PDF Ruston Lat? A basic body and components for Β£100.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
Also Banjomike offers a diesel resin kit, though bit dearer than the PDF Ruston kit mentioned above.
Someone else is intending / doing a Diema DL6? kit as well. Would have to find the details again.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
I have got a pdf Lat. It turned up Saturday morning. I didn't realise they were so diminutive but it measures up bang on to the drawing in my Ruston book. The 3d printing either needs a rub down or some 3d paint/filler but should make a nice model . There are some screw heads that will need filling but it will save a lot of time. There is a representation of an engine that will mean you can have the open side bonnet although a panel is provided for closed. Will I take a picture later if you like.
I have asked Banjo Mike for a kit that should be available shortly, pictures on the se lounge.

I also like that Tom, can it run on 32mm track.

Re: 7/8ths diesel kits
You can do Rod but it will be bigger than your current stock - nearly 23mm to the foot as opposed to 16mm. This a body only kit so you have to provide your own chassis.
