Binnie Engineering 4 Ton Wagon Kit

Post by FWLR » Wed Sep 13, 2017 1:03 pm

I have just received a Binnie Engineering 4Ton Wagon Kit and i would like to know a couple of things please.

1) Do i need to wash the kit in warm soapy water to kind rid of any oil residue.
2) Do i paint the kit before assembling because of glue marks, or can i leave it until it is all together, has you may know they are Black.
3) Will i need to put some weight in the wagon to help keep it from bouncing around, the only reason i ask that is because thats want i need to do on my N gauge wagons sometimes.

Cheers

It won't hurt to give it a bit of a scrub although I have never bothered on injection moulded kits.

If you think it will be easier to paint it before then do it. But there might be an issue with glue marks and touching up.

A bit of weight is always handy. Stick on wheel balancing weights used for alloy wheels are good for this.
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!

Another option for weight is a slice of artificial slate glued with mastic.

So it doesn’t really need much to put weight on a model, never gave it a thought that the underneath can hold things like that. Thanks Derek.
