Phew! is right Rik. What a mammoth job. Brilliant. The curved windows are something special. The siding with the wagon standing make the whole thing look the part. Amazing how it changes a building plonked down, into a true scene.

How did you make the unsupported canopy (surely not a verandah ) stand up? especially the 'corner'.

With tongue in cheek - is it a UK law that downspouts (downpipes to me) MUST be black? (I notice many houses on TV's 'Escape to the Country" have black ones.)

That is a magnificent building, so realistic and is going to fit into your railway in a very convincing way. I'm not quite sure what you mean by taking a long time, certainly beats any of my projects on timescale and everything thing else for that matter. My only concern is that you must be running out of space on your railway to fit anything else in and then what would you do?

I'll certainly be using him again. The windows are crisp with very little cleaning-up necessary. There are some slight imperfections which show up under macro photography, but these are easily covered with a couple of coats of paint (which I assume is necessary as I doubt the plastic will be UV resistant). Not bad for £1 each!!

Difficulty is that the remaining sidings are on the operator side of the railway with very little room left. This means any buildings will be half-relief with their backs to the audience. I'm trying to decide whether to build a boneworks (or a very small part of one) or a sandstone quarry or sand quarry on one of the other new sidings. The latter would be interesting operationally. I was tempted to use real sand but I suspect that would play havoc with mechanisms.

I appreciate the tongue in cheek question Greg, but seriously, in Conservation area's there are colour restrictions and particularly with Listed Buildings only a very limited colour palette is usually permitted, but black ironwork is a fairly safe bet!

Triangular brackets, superglued to the building with cocktail stick lugs. .
However, I'm wondering if I ought to put in some wrought iron pillars, especially on that corner. I think the triangular brackets would have looked good as fancy wrought iron - another suitable subject for 3D printing?

You're right, old wrought iron downspouts always seem to be painted black. I've assumed that in the 1930s, most utilitarian buildings would have had black paintwork (Halfords satin black).

That really does look fantastic, well done! I love how you've represented the various materials, it all looks just right.

Will the visit of the first train be marked with a suitable ceremony? I guess that would have to involve beer...

Well Rik, what can I say....SUBERB maybe. Or absolutely flipping BRILLIANT. It is going to put my garage to shame.

I will be putting up it on my thread soon. Just waiting for a bit warmer weather, so I can lacquer it. Anne wouldn't be able to stand the smell from it...And my own chest wouldn't like it also....

By the way Rik, can you remind me where you got your windows from.

I have also put a search on The Works for those letters, but it dosen't recognise them.....

He will make them to your own dimensions for an extra £4 setting-up fee.

The last time I was in the Works I couldn't see the letters - they might be something which comes and goes. Hobbycraft do similar letters but they cost a little bit more (£2 for 52 letters)
