Wow, that is some building. The contrast of the bricks and motor colour is just right.
Does it have a back or just the hedge behind?

He indicates he will supply other sizes on request. I've sent him an email with the dimensions for my windows (30mm x 50mm) and am awaiting a response.

Fingers crossed.

Just heard back and he has some in stock which are more or less the right size for £1 each, plus £1 post overall. He will make bespoke ones for a £4 setting up charge, for future reference. His email address is in the ebay post or you can contact him via his ebay shop if anyone else is interested - https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/jwlikestrain ... 7675.l2563

Hi Rik. I really don't know how I have missed this thread. What a brilliant idea to make a model out of cardboard first... :thumbright:

The brickwork is excellent Rik, (much better than mine on my garage)....and you have the patience of a Saint doing all that scribing. Love the colours also mate... :thumbright:

Hi Greg
At the moment there is no back. I might remedy that once I site it properly, I'll see how much tweaking I need to do to the hedge, first.

I was thinking of Beeston Bitter and Beeston Brown Ale, but BBBB does sound interesting.

Looks like I've been beaten to it, though somehow I don't think they would have had Old Stoatwobbler and The Squirrel's Nuts in 1930s Cheshire.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for some product promotion.... there might be a case of Old Stoatwobbler (wonderful name) in it for you?

Must be my age, but the first time I read your comment, I interpreted it as suggesting I might get some sort of infectious disease. .... :?

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for some creative synergistic marketing! "Sell" their products on your line in exchange for a cratefull?

Well, it's taken a fair while, but at last I am nearly there!

Windows, doors, guttering and downspouts now in place (the downspouts were a bit of a mare).

And now test-fitted in its location at Beeston Castle station.

Had to cut back the hedge a fair bit and also prune the model a bit to make it fit.

Need to bed it in properly with a concrete plinth and the track will need to be realigned slightly. Inevitably, there are a few more detailing and touching-up jobs required, but it's more or less complete.

Phew!

Very nice Rik, it already looks as though its part of the landscape.
Those letters were a good find, I must see if our local outlet has any, although that means a special trip and I'm not sure its worth a 16 mile round trip!

That certainly looks impressive and imposing. You make no mention of the windows but clearly they fit and look just right...... a great find!

Phew! is right Rik. What a mammoth job. Brilliant. The curved windows are something special. The siding with the wagon standing make the whole thing look the part. Amazing how it changes a building plonked down, into a true scene.

How did you make the unsupported canopy (surely not a verandah  ) stand up? especially the 'corner'.

With tongue in cheek - is it a UK law that downspouts (downpipes to me) MUST be black? (I notice many houses on TV's 'Escape to the Country" have black ones.)

That is a magnificent building, so realistic and is going to fit into your railway in a very convincing way. I'm not quite sure what you mean by taking a long time, certainly beats any of my projects on timescale and everything thing else for that matter. My only concern is that you must be running out of space on your railway to fit anything else in and then what would you do?

I'll certainly be using him again. The windows are crisp with very little cleaning-up necessary. There are some slight imperfections which show up under macro photography, but these are easily covered with a couple of coats of paint (which I assume is necessary as I doubt the plastic will be UV resistant). Not bad for £1 each!! :thumbright:

Hi Phil
Difficulty is that the remaining sidings are on the operator side of the railway with very little room left. This means any buildings will be half-relief with their backs to the audience. I'm trying to decide whether to build a boneworks (or a very small part of one) or a sandstone quarry or sand quarry on one of the other new sidings. The latter would be interesting operationally. I was tempted to use real sand but I suspect that would play havoc with mechanisms.

I appreciate the tongue in cheek question Greg, but seriously, in Conservation area's there are colour restrictions and particularly with Listed Buildings only a very limited colour palette is usually permitted, but black ironwork is a fairly safe bet!
