Surely Spring on The Way? - Paddock Garden Railway 19-02-17

Post by dougrail » Tue Feb 21, 2017 12:24 pm

So, first trip of the year for the Sunday running to Hampton Loade as the Sping season is on the way and the railway is now open until November, coinciding with the first operating weekend of the Severn Valley Railway.

The first difference this year was the mode of transport. As posted elsewhere, I finally have a working car and used this ti travel there and back today:

A herald of things to come -- this fully refurbished/rebuilt RH Millie, repainted in BS 105 Oxford Blue was on tests today.

After January's shenanigans where Cadno had been appointed to go out to Butterley, but only ran one small turn due to track time then being eaten up by the crotchety "Lady of The Lake", it was decided to give the Old Faithful and the Cambrian Coast Express the roster for today.

There was some GWR Standard Gauge steam too

This Cricket diesel was often out and about today today on this quieter Sunday where only 4 operators [and 2 wives!] max were present, including myself.

Yes - that last shot would make a nice cover shot for the next 16mm magazine!
Where did I put that uncoupler?
