Wheels galore
We've been making wheels at work the last couple of days. The coolant pump relay blew earlier in the week and the tech guy didn't have a spare with him so there were a few days downtime on the machine. Those things only happen when you are really, really busy. Anyway, last few hundred will be run tomorrow and then I guess I will have the "pleasure" of manually deburring the rear of the bore.

Would you be doing them on a surface grinder. When I worked in the toolroom has an apprentice, one of my jobs was to make the blanks of the dies that the skilled guys were working on perfectly flat. So I would lay about ten, depending on the size of the blank and because the magnet was that strong it would hold them in place while I ran the grinding wheel across them. Granted it is all computerised now, but I loved doing it.

They are made on a CNC lathe with a bar feeder, so once set up it pretty much takes care of itself. You just need to change the inserts once in a while.

Wheely Mark, you can do better than that?
Re: Wheels galore
Still the back of the wheels look rough to me.
