Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
And finally, something a bit more "modern WHR". IMG-20210712-WA0030_resize_14.jpg This enormous brake van was a Worsley brass "scratch-aid" kit, you get the side to make a basic 2D box and everything else is added to that. Features HGLW SAR bogies and scratch-built lamps + duckets.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
As promised
The two planked wagon is now finished, with some soil (inspired by Andrew's).
An FR private owners wagon, plated as Oakeley's. This is a cut-down Lineside Hut wagon with a scratch built "inside frame".

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
The "Wagon in a Weekend" project might not quite have lived up to its billing, but nonetheless the WHR brake van is trundling towards the finish line remarkably quickly for one of my projects. Here's where it's at right now: WHR Van.jpg Just weathering, a roof and (maybe) a little interna...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Here's a (heavily doctored) photo of the sheet. Obviously it's missing a few transfers.
If you contact Tom, he'll have this saved somewhere. This is my second sheet from him.- Sat May 22, 2021 10:44 am

Look forward to seeing this one Andrew! The two vans are actually VERY different in not only details but size as well.

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Once you give it some weathering and a matt finish it'll look fine, the real Funkey lives outside and (according to the recent diesel line-up on Moving Pictures) it's in need of a repaint at some point anyway as it's looking tired.

Accuraft Edrig dome
Hi guys,
Does anyone have a spare dome for an Edrig? We need it for a locomotive project.
Cheers

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Very nice! What are you using for lettering, it looks good? Endon Valley make them for me, a sheet of WHR, NWNGR and sample numbers. I'm sure if you mention it to Tom (and quote my name), he'll print off a sheet and maybe introduce as a product. Those are beautifully finished, and weathered. Thank ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Been a while, but with the nicer weather gradually upon us I can reveal two wagons: Firstly, another NWNGR 4t wagon by Jurassic: IMG-20210502-WA0027_resize_28.jpg This is lightly weathered using drybrushing, inks and lightly sanding the red down. This gives a decent, 4 wagon train without needing sl...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
I've always been tempted to do some rainbow Summer carriages just for shows, kids would love it.
Anyway, impressive as always Andrew.

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
You raise some good points Peter regarding the wood. In terms of distortion I guess it's mainly down to • How the plywood is produced; • How it's treated; • How it is stored prior to the supplier; • How the material is stored at the supplier; • How the sprue is cut; • How it is stored at the purchas...

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Morning all, Kit is looking good so far! Just to add my 2c into the quality issues you described - I've built wooden kits from quite a few suppliers now and from what you describe it's fairly typical of uncommon occurrences. The warping issue can happen at any point, even during a build infact! The ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
I hadn't realised that couplings were a reason for having the "small Birminghams" at the top of the rake, always good to learn something new! I think also, the Birmingham's were generally added at the top due to the fact they were through-pipped only. Being between both the locomotive and...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
That's a mighty fine looking coach. I'm not sure I fully understand how the different couplings worked. I can see the logic of it travelling in the Up direction, but what happened in the Down? Did they have to reverse the coach at each end? Rik They did actually turn one of these carriages to run o...

Re: Roundhouse Millie being dropped
I think whatever they replace it with will never live up to the Millie. It's got a particular charm that no other locomotive can really capture; must be the pot boiler/slip-eccentric combination. We have member with a Bertie and it seemed to be more unstable and less relaxing to run. Never really se...
