Re: TVT - Mail/Inspection Motor

A similar trick from my 4mm days was to use Rizla cigarette papers. Spray one the colour you want for the lining background, then draw a line across it in the central colour using a bow pen or Rotring pen. Then use a fresh scapel blade to cut as close as you want either side of the line and hey pres...

Don't want to be pedantic, but as far as I know ( unless flashforge is different) a standard reel weighs 1Kg, BUT the plastic reel itself weighs approx 250g, so their is only approx 750g of actual filament on the 1Kg reel.

Re: My Flashforge Printer Journey.

Personally I wouldn't worry about getting superdooper filament. I've almost never used anything other than the cheapest bog standard PLA (and ABS) available on Amazon and never had any problems. You'll probably waste a large % of the first reel anyway, whilst you work out what to do and how to do it...

I'm with Rik, on Halfords spray paints and hand priming. Actually I'm not sure I've ever seen a spray primer for wood, only metal/plastic.

As I said, they all get it from the one importer, so go for the cheapest, it's all the same. :D

Re: Adventures with a Flashforge

Thank you both for your very detailed replies and as usual as one question is answered it in turn poses another question. If the filament is hygroscopic and potentially becomes brittle, what happens after it has been extruded by the printer? Is the printed model still hygroscopic and brittle and de...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

I keep looking on thingyverse - but I haven't seen any of this! The Thingiverse search function is useless, very pedantic and precise on its use of wording but then it finds all sorts of irreleavnt stuff because one word is the same! The problem is that people give their files names which aren't ne...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

What am I doing wrong? Yes, I did look at the original picture and thought the face looked a bit odd. As for what you are doing wrong, I THINK it may be the same problem that I had with the supports on my slate wagon. i.e the supports are to close to the model and the resin has bridged the gap and ...

I've just found two more victorian ladies on Thingiverse. One from the same person as before and one that has been there for years apparently and looks superb. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4696025 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1093427 Plus I found a victorian man... looks a bit like Abraham...

I'm sure a man of your perspicacity can sort a swivelling coupling without too much trouble!
In the meanwhile it looks as though the kids are following after their uncle, well done.

Re: Adventures with a Flashforge

Phil, I'll jump in here if I may, and no doubt Simon and others will share their thoughts as well. Pretty much all printers will handle both ABS and PLA and some other materials as well. It's just a matter of setting the correct parameters when slicing. The noise level is minimal and not a reason to...

Re: The Reading and Squamish Light Railway Stock Thread

A quick ebay search for 6BA x 1/2" steel allen screws brought up cap head and countersunk versions. Admittedly they are UK suppliers but a quick search of Ebay Canada brings up the same results and appears to suggest they would post to you . https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trks...

Look on ebay for "Delrin chain" and it will have the gears as well. Wherever you get it from, it all comes from the same original imported source.

Of the blues I'd go for 5010 or 5017 personally, but color choice is a very personal thing and computer screens distort colour comparisons anyway.

At the end of the day, the oldage, "Your railway, your rules" applies.
