Re: TVT - The lost Tribe

Being fairly new to the forum I hadn't seen this before so went back to the start. Wow! what a beautifully made model.

Re: The G&DLR begins.

Lovely paint job on the Tunnel mouth. Looking further back those concrete posts may not be so easy to remove. They probably have a big lump of concrete round the bottom. So digging them up would have to be done before building the railway. The alternative would be to cut them off close to ground lev...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

I was intrigued at the insect landing on the building at 3:48. Looked like a scale bird ! You wouldn't believe the time it took to get that insect to perform that way.... they all want their own dressing room with stars on the doors.... and their Agent's fees are exorbitant! That did make me chuckl...

Brian Dominic

I heard today that Brian Dominic, on here as MDLR, is seriously ill in Royal Derby Hospital being overwelmed by an untreatable infection.
Very sad news.

Re: Welcome to the CHLR

You can have fun with Battery power but if you can open a window I would have the odd quick run with a steamer especially if you can get a dehumidifier to collect the moisture.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

I dont see any reason why you shouldn't achieve your dreams. The Beyer Garrett sounds interesting the only question is would you be able to reach the firebox, controls etc. when riding behind. One of the saddest things I have seen was a 5inch gauge Fairlie with a towel over the rear chimney because ...

I am rather in Awe or your machine work, you seem to be able to just set it up and go.

The sense of achievement comes from walking up. Riding back down is a relief when you realise how tired you are after walking up.

And finding somewhere to place the Gas tank as well as the servos.
Lovely work. I assume you find chain drilling a better option than milling a slot.

Re: The Cobtree Line

I haven't seen this before so spent a pleasant time starting from the begining. It looks a great line and well fitted into the garden. I think garden lines need a bit of over engineering . The rolling stock may be 16mm but the weather is 12mm:1ft and even our small terrier at 10kgs would be a huge b...

Thanks for that. It would be a bit awkward simply dropping a fire in a boat.

Cracking pictures Rik. Sounds like you had a great day and you are lucky to have it that clear at the top I have only been on it once myself. Walked up and caught the train back down turned out it was the last run of the last day of the season. Good job we didn't miss it.

Re: 5" gauge 0-6-0 'Sweet Pea'

You can expects a few things need doing after the first real runs especially when the build was initially not your own. I suspect some of things things you would have done differently. One thing I dont quite understand why would you need to remove a firebox quickly can you not simply drop the fire? ...

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

[/quote] I draw the part in 3D and checked all in my full assembly model. Every part is done this way and then converted to a 2D workshop drawing. I drew another 3D part with some machining allowance added and then sent that file (STL version) to Mike at Stannier Engineering in NewZealand and he pri...
