Re: CDR Railcar No. 10
Forget about connecting it to PC much easier just to transfer the gcode files to the printer on a SD card, I do my drawing/slicing on my main PC in the house then just take the card out and plug it into the printer in the workshop. Snag with using the PC to do the communications is its normally a p...

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer
Those are excellent Rik. Well done at such an early stage in the learning curve. Took a fair bit of trial, error, watching YouTube videos and googling but they've turned out ok. I'd like to really get to grips with SketchUp. It looks like it can do some amazing stuff, but it's not always intuitive....

I could say I planned it that way, but in reality it was pure happenstance.BorisSpencer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 4:48 pm It looks like you've printed them pre-upholstered with some sort of velour.

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer
This may not look much but getting to grips with Sketchup and figuring out how to get curves on curves for the seat backs was a challenge in itself! I need to improve the mounting between the seat and the back, but basically I'm almost ready to go into production..... :sunny: IMG_0532.JPG Also need ...

Good point, Tom. Eliminate that was possible problem before tinkering with the wiring.tom_tom_go wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 12:38 pm Does the battery charge when directly connected to the charger?

Re: RC for No.4, fitted but won’t charge...
I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be working other than, as you suggest, the switch is faulty. You could try connecting your wires to the other three connectors on the dpdt switch in case just the set of contacts you're using are dodgy.

If all else fails, you could try Plastic Magic from Deluxe. It's a bit more expensive but I've found it bonds the harder plastics which LGB etc use in their models.

.... Looks like the machine doesn't have a heated bed .... Actually it does, controlled via a thermistor. Considering what I paid for it, I'm well pleased. What are the print speed times like Rik? The barrow and the wicker basket each took about an hour. How much power does it consume when printing, does it have an amps rating? No idea, Tom. There's a small heating element for the print head, but no more than a hot glue gun would use, there are five s...

I think it must be something to do with the drawing. I've just printed part of a wheelbarrow and that seems a lot smoother. DSCN0459.JPG . Struggling to print the other parts of the barrow but maybe it's because I scaled them all down. Might be that some things have a limit beyond which they can't b...

PPS I think it would have been difficult to have produced a representation of wickerwork in any other way. So maybe 3D printers have a role - albeit a very niche one

Many Happy Tea Urns, Peter.
Looking forward to seeing shots of trains in action now you've done the maintenance. I'm glad to see Henry lending a hand. His sister, Hetty, does a similar job on the PLR from time to time.

Its looking great Rik what 3d printer did you go for The cheapest on eBay. It says it's a Prusa i3, but it ain't. It's a CTC DIY i3. I've finished putting it together and wired it up. Struggling to get the computer to communicate with the printer at the moment. It knows it's there but doesn't want ...
