Great pictures - and some ambitious operations by the looks.
I like that the Torosay Castle Express appears to be a goods train - there can't have been many named goods trains? I can think of The Condor, the Night Mail (I guess technically passenger) and The Flying Kipper!

C’mon, c’mon! I want to see the green bits... Yeah, me too! I'm being strict with myself though, I've got to do the stone and slate bits first, because those are likely to be messy. I'm hoping to make some progress after "work" today... I'm getting there... the stone and slate are all don...

The pub looks excellent, and it really suits that location. The locals must be looking forward to being able to visit again...

Re: Semi-scale BR: low cost tank wagon
That looks just right!
My family drop similar hints, but I just get better at hiding things... My line can only manage 6 average length wagons, but the more I have the more variety I can have...
Keep squirreling 'em away Bertie!

Looking good! The vans are very nice indeed... I never did finish the chocolate factory (it was just taking up too much time and space), and the van remains unfinished too - I might have to crack on with it now! Quite how a standard gauge design to a made up scale will fit into my 16mm narrow gauge ...

Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past
What has increased significantly is attempts by bots and spammers trying to join! They'll never build a bot that can accurately replicate our nerdiness! Well, mine anyway, I guess I should only speak for myself! I'm often amused by the attempts to sell me stuff via online ads that are presumably inf...

Re: 5" gauge 0-6-0 Sweet Pea
I'd certainly find it instructive - for someone who's spent his entire life fascinated by steam locomotives, I really know very little about how they work!
If you can find the time to do it then I'll definitely be watching...
Thanks,
Andrew

Yes you've seen the station before unless you were asleep a couple of years back when I bored everyone silly with all the 3D printing I did. Aha! No, not asleep, but I don't recognise it at all, so I think it's from the period I spent away from the forum (and modelling generally) a few years ago. L...

Great stuff!
The technical stuff's beyond me, but it looks fantastic, loving how the sun catches the steam and reflects on the brasswork...
Cheers,

Yep, it was fun! It's a fairly narrow window though - My kids were interested in it for a year or two, and then it passed. They loved it while it lasted though and would play for ages sometimes, with one taking the role of driver and another being a shunter/signalman. What I'm glad I realised was th...

I agree that sometimes it's good to run a reduced service just to get something up and running 😊 Definitely! Lovely locos and stock too. The chunky, functional little diesels reminded me of my first ever model loco, the Triang dock shunter: https://hattonsimages.blob.core.windows.net/products/R253-...

Surely Mr. Spectre gave extra marks for such a well-detailed line? You'd think, wouldn't you?! A lovely report, and great photos. The stream and bridge really are looking good - and have we soon those very posh looking plum and cream carriages before? Very nice... Actually, I don't recall seeing th...

Re: GRR - Light Railway Extension
This is looking great - it's going to be a really characterful little line I think, with loads of operational interest, which the children will love. I used to set mine shunting puzzles - take the logs to the sawmill and the coal to the docks (both imaginary!) but make sure the guards van stays on t...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Evening all! Spring is definitely here, and the (WH)WHR's Permanent Way gang have begun work on getting the line in shape for a re-opening to passengers at Easter, or thereabouts... Today, the first train for some months made its way up the line to Clarach, using the gang's new gauging van, see here...

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
Thanks Rik! The signal box base will have the same finish as the tunnel mouth, which was one reason that I was keen to progress both projects at the same time. The other is that between the two "building" projects and some landscaping, this area of the railway should be significantly impro...
