...the more the better... Indeed (and yes, I have voted as well), but... let's be realistic. As mentioned by philipy : ...only just over 200 had actually logged in from 1st June until now... even fewer have voted  so far Patient is rather poorly and prognosis is not good... Just transfe...

... The first part of the project was to build a powered bogie, as there's not much point in continuing if this bit didn't work... I don't normally stray into this section of the forum (since my interest lies exclusively in steam), but I am glad that I've ended up here  I enjoyed this thre...

... Association's main organ for forum-type postings is now Facebook... It's nothing like a proper "forum" :D and it's regrettable that the Association has chosen Fakebook, but not surprising (I guess it reflects a society of today). ...over 2700 members surely that cannot be denied... Nu...

When do we migrate? I have registered and joined already  as for photos - every forum I am on, is making members use external storage and embed their pics - no problem for me at all (although I realise some computer challenged members will hate the idea ;) for the same reason, I g...

...it only provides 200Mb of storage on the free version... Yes, I am aware of it. For me this was never a problem, but I realise some members prefer to have forum based storage. Perhaps there is an idea here: "Premium" (financially contributing) members have storage available to them on ...

I am one of the "freeloaders" ;) who has joined the forum since the last contribution round. I only post very moderately and not very regularly either. My preferred solution would be something like https://proboards.com/ It seems to work very well for https://modeleng.proboards.com/ or htt...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
Thank you Tony, that's very good explanation and helps understanding things a lot :thumbright: One other thing I have noticed on your photo, is that it seems that in original/Penrhyn condition valve gear lever was on the RH side? (and getting in a way of the piping :P ). This is reflected in Keith B...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
...The tightest curve on the FR main line is Tyler's which, with a radius of 157 feet, works at about 2.5m radius in 16mm/foot scale and larger than the average curve found on most 16mm lines. I did a bit of 3D CAD modelling to check things, and it would be perfectly feasible to run it on 1.2m (or ...

Hi Trevor, what advance did you use for the eccentric (either angular or linear dimension), please?Trevor Thompson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 9:10 pm The eccentric:

The centre for the axle is offset from the centre of the eccentric by 3.5mm.
According to Charles drawings, as designed it has 1/32" steam lap.

So I am not the only one who struggled with his software... It's not just a software. The book is hard read as well. Don was extremely knowledgable and very respected but as far as I am concerned the master of the subject doesn't necessarily make the best teacher of it ;) I am still persevering tho...

...I never expected this thread to generate so much knowledgable response!... Excellent Trevor :thumbright: Wanted to have a look at the drawings, but the only one listed in "steammodelloco 16mm" group is "Charles"- Penrhyn Quarry ' main line' loco Charles. Looks very much like your loco... (apart from the lack of tender and no drawing of alternative Steph...
