Re: Slaters 2 ton slate wagon
If you overdo the blackening it can tend to peel off anyway with handling. The is not point isn using it under paint an etch primer is better as an undercoat. I find blackening useful for parts like three link couplings where paint will tend to wear off but also tend to interfere with the use of the...

More top quality work Dazza. The Turnado system I understand to be using hand held tools which I know more as Graving. The people I know who use Graving are the 2mm finescale workers where they are making very fine cuts most of the time.

Very glad to hear you are back on the mend. It is only after you have lived in a true bungalow for a while that you realise how many times you are going up and down stairs usually when you visit family with a house and you are n longer used to it! Anne sounds a real tresure. Best wished to you both ...

Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past
Regarding the 16mmNGS egroup there was always a ension between those who wanted it only to be used for Association business and those who wanted to cover a wider range. Anyway the cruch with Yahoo came and the group has migrated to IO groups. There is a major difference between a forum and an egroup...

Re: Workshop/shed
Using the RCD would work out fine Rik it is so easy to leave something on. My father worried about his high electric bill complained to the supply company. An engineer visited and found he had left a heater on in the loft. He had put a portable heater by the water tank worried about frost three mont...

Coming together nicely Rik. I agree with you on the subject of wall lights and accessible sockets. If you have a central light source you can end up working in your own shadow at the workbench. One thing I do prefer is to have all the electrics lights and socket supplied through a single double pole...

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
Hi Rob you commented '(P.s. I think I may have gone a little overboard, Rob)' I would say not at all Rob it was a refreshingly honest report pointing out all those areas where you have little jobs needed to bring it up to the standard you want. I think most of us could find a similar list of little ...

Re: wiring?
Provided you do not have a charger pluged in, the charger socket will cause no problems. The two way switch will then just work like an on-off switch set to run and the batterries will be connected to the motor. Set to Charge the Batteries and Motor will not be connected so it will not run.

Re: Workshop/shed
Very nice. I have a pile of recovered bricks to turn into a workshop where the trains will be stored. I was thinking about having a lean-to on the back to house the toilet. With the site being over 100ft from the house (which is also about 15ft lower) it would be a real bind to keep nipping up and d...

Great looking model you are making a nice job of it. Does it have plenty of weight for adhesion?
