I have been busy during the dark and wet evenings and have completed the run of structures ready for positioning on the railway in due course. Quite a long time has been lavished on the paintwork to give the impression of age and neglect on the empty house... ./myff/2043394/IMG_4412.JPG ./myff/20433...

My latest build is another double shop front which will butt up to the angled storage unit at the side of my stone structure.... ./myff/2041480/IMG_4392.JPG Inside the buildings there are several strips of plasticard strengtheners and corner angles which make it very strong and uses all off-cuts wit...

Nice work Jim.... looks like a make-it-up-as-you-go kind of job, just the way I work! You make it look as though you are comfortable with plastic card too.

Thanks for your comments Andrew and Grant, I agree about looking at the back of buildings too, the fronts are usually built to impress and bear little resemblance to actual use of a building, especially after several years of use and change of ownership. I am lucky here as I have an area to fill whi...

Brilliant!!!! I love it.

The HIP sheets I use are available on-line and are 1, 1.5, or 2mm thick in a variety of colours. They are 915 x 610 mm and the 2mm size costs £8.40, so much more economical than model shop prices.

Thanks Rik, I'm still adding detail to the structure and have now bricked-up some windows and the rear door of the semis.....   ./myff/2041244/IMG_4389.JPG The lean-to is clearly a later addition to the original building, as is the covered storage area at the end of the stone structure.  The latter ...

Perhaps I'm a frustrated architect? I've never been involved with the real thing, other than our Edwardian home renovation, but have always been impressed with regional architecture and the infinite variety of styles and materials. This is my opportunity to create something unique but sympathetic to...

Although I have been watching the Forum I haven't added to my thread for more than a week now. That doesn't mean I have been idle, far from it! I am still building more structures to add to my village scene which I want to look authentic with shops, houses, pub(s) and my Market Hall. My latest incor...

Me too Jim, and here's one which Tom will recognise..... ./myff/2040836/IMG_2387.JPG Incidentally, if there is anyone out there who would like us to promote their products in picture form on the B.U.R.P.S. we would be happy to oblige.... obviously...

A small but select gathering of friends, plenty of fresh coffee and even biscuits (I can't believe they appeared in the pictures!!!!!). Always a good show of steam when Jim turns up and an opportunity to use the railway, which I have to admit is a rare thing when there is just me. Already looking fo...

If you spray everything, inside and out, with a grey plastic primer first then you can see which areas should have a top coat of your chosen colour and which can remain. Probably the interior would be left unfinished for workmen? The wooden slatted seats will make a huge difference to the overall ap...

Brilliant work Jim, no wonder you are in demand, these things are very much in vogue right now and you have the ability to create items which would sell for good money in the right areas.
A good sense of humour shows through too.
The glass jar lights are superb.

Hi Philip, Happy New Year to you and welcome back after your Christmas break. Carmarthen is certainly a centre for charity shops, plus the fact that some interesting and valuable items are often found there. I went to one shop with the intention of searching for a boat hull, and found one! So soon a...

These figures are meant to look intimidating by design, youngsters seem to appreciate that I think! The modifications I have managed to apply have made them look less so but they are still quite strong characters. The boat purchase has turned out well I think and will make a welcome addition to the ...

Although I am in West Wales, you would be most welcome to use my railway and I would be delighted to see your loco(s) running on it. It is a dog-bone loop with large radius curves and one running line with a slight incline.
pm me if you are interested.

Another one off the list of useful activities... this lad is moving a pallet ready for a load, although what it might be is still undecided....
