Lovely stuff, as usual.
Spotted me some cammo netting, but really only because I was looking for it.

Coupling chains
I seem to go through three link chains and coupling pins at a faster rate than gas and water! Pins I simply make from the copper core of 2.5mm twin and earth, but I've been buying chains from the likes of NPW. However the other day I found this Silver chain at £2.19 for 2 metres. The only, albeit sl...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
Coming back to Pendle ladders, after reading Phil's recommendation I went to look at the Pendle site, and although they are shown as included with the signal and water tower kits, I can't find them listed on their own? I did the same - they are listed in the downloadable PDF catalogue (£6.50 for a ...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Sorry, Andrew et al, a bit of thread drift here........ That's not thread-drift Rik - for large parts of the time the (WH)WHR exists as a kind of thought experiment anyway, either because I'm not at home, or because i'm doing other things. 99% of the services that operate over the line do so only i...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
+1 for not needing to steam-up to enjoy the railway. I find recent the battery loco from GRS is perfect for just trundling around slowly with a its tippers in tow. I just catch sight of it from time to time as I'm pottering, and also hear the clickity-clack as it passes over certain sections of track.

Re: Cuttng flitches
Rik, How about a jigsaw, held upside down in a workmate? Most come with a small fence that needs to extended to be of any use. Just don't let H&S see you! What size 'logs' are you trying to represent? I have a lot of semi-seasoned pine and sycamore branches at the moment, and am willing to give ...

Re: Cuttng flitches
Forget the second bit, that's overcomplicating things.
1. Glue branch to batten.
2. Run batten against the fence, with branch running through blade.

Re: Cuttng flitches
Have you got access to a band saw? Mount you chosen branch to a thin board (hot glue) and then take slices by running said board against the fence and moving it over by 4mm each time. An improvement would be to stick the branch to a batten, and then fix this to the thin board, that way only the very...

Re: Beeston Market Station forecourt/backscenes
That's very impressive Rik, puts your railway into its prototypical context. I can't imagine you would want to go to those lengths for every photo, but to enable you to show a picture of something that I don't think I've seen outside of your blog describing its construction, adds a new perspective. ...

Re: Beeston Market Station forecourt
If the back scenes are for photographic purposes, you could always create temporary green screens and add your own backgrounds in Photoshop afterwards. Would this be considered ethical? The post production back-scene could just be a better shot of your own garden. I suppose it raises the question sh...

Re: My Proposed Railway
The element with which I'm currently struggling is a name.
I'm currently thinking along the lines of - 'Something clever' Preservation Light Railway, as I then have carte blanche to run pretty much anything I fancy.

Re: HGLW Wittenberg-Schafer Loco
Very nice.
Have you added much weight to the loco?
I can see an order heading the way of HGLW in the not too distant future.
