Re: Liveries

Started a paint scheme for my coaches very (very!) loosely based on the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway colours. Being pulled by my Ragleth http://i.imgur.com/4VpnvWT.jpg Being pulled by a very clean Feanor (who has since been heavily weathered) http://i.imgur.com/Aj8sLw4.jpg Being pulled by my ver...

Gears and chains

I'm looking to build a simple track clearer (not cleaner, clearer. something to clear twigs, leaves etc from the track). The idea is a flat bed truck with a circular brush at the front driven by a small electric motor that will spin and brush away the debris. I'm after a supplier for cogs, gears, ch...

Some Saturday afternoon jobs

Finally got round to painting some of the lineside bits and bobs I bought at the 16mm show! In between work on the signal box (post in the Projects board)

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box

Not a huge amount of progress since the last time, spent a bit of time building the steps. These were foamboard in the main, the spindles were brass rods that I inserted through holes drilled vertically and then tops were rounded off using milliput. The brickwork has been dremelled out and a base un...

Roundhouse Stanley

One of the downsides of this years Peterborough was seeing the Stanley on the roundhouse engines through the years and then seeing a number of them running on the layouts :( At the time they were build I didn't have enough spare cash for an order, love the engine though. Hopefully one day roundhouse...

Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

Excellent loco! Out of interest what did you use to glue the plasticard together? I've used it for buildings and for the base of an IP loco. Have used evostik serious glue, unibond extreme repair and gorilla glue. Hate GG, the other two are excellent for buildings but found with constant handling of...

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box

Another day and some more progress! Brick work completed using a dremel and a flat head screwdriver to detail the foam board. Side shed built using a combination of foam board and coffee stirer cladding. Getting to the tricky point of when to add the window frames, pre or post painting the interior?...

A bit more work on a wet Sunday afternoon. Basic frame of the building built and the brickwork marked out. The aim will be to build a floor with all the interior detail on that can just slide into the frame, then add the window frames.

I've had a test piece out in the garden without any paint or lacquer on it for a year and it still holds together well. My building has been out for about four months or so and is holding up very well. So fairly happy with the foam board. For bonding it all together I used Everbuild P16PIPE P16 Plum...

New Project : Stanley Signal Box

Following on from the Church it's time for a new building I think! Decided to build a signal box, thinking about trying more detailing inside this time as the style of box has plenty of windows.

IP Engineering build help needed

I'm currently building a Christmas present of a goods wagon IP22. Building the axle box but can't see where the four little strips will fit. From the instructions it looks like they're the 'tie rail'? But any idea where exactly they go? The pic in th instructions aren't that clear?? https://i.imgur....

The incompatibility of couplings! I had a couple of IP Engineering Roundhouse style buffers spare & reckoned they could be adapted to fit. I cut off the threaded studs, used the hook hole for the mount & file'd down the body to fit into the chopper pocket. ./myff/2035993/Accucraft+Coupling+...

Accucraft Coupling replacements - what do you use?

On my Ragleth I removed the end of the chopper and just use the hook to attach my (mainly) IP engineering rolling stock with chains.

The end of the chopper is open though and frankly doesn't look great. What do others use to couple if you don't use the std accucraft chopper coupling?

I did think about that, but couldn't find a suitable watch. If only I'd spotted your thread!! Can you repost a link to the thread or to where you got them if it wasn't on the original thread? I made the tops of the towers removable so there is still the opportunity to fit something like this in plac...
