I'm not yet convinced! But any links to online articles or books/issues of 16mm/GR on track building?

Re: Custom points build - any recommendations?
I think Marcway in Sheffield will build whatever you want, but they are expensive. Why don't you build your own? It is nowhere near as difficult as most people imagine and you'll end up with something you've done yourself at a fraction of the cost. Hmm, not sure I have the skills to get what I'm af...

Re: Custom points build - any recommendations?
Thanks, looks to be plans for more traditional points. What I'm after is more bespoke i.e. complicated! Needs to have a curve ideally on the main track and turnout.

Custom points build - any recommendations?
I’m looking to get a set of point custom built for the summer, I need to replace a set of small points that are mismatched to my peco G45 track with something that will fit the track layout better. So I’m after recommendations of anyone folks have used to build points from some fairly crude but to s...

Ragleth alongside a ...
I've been toying with the idea of getting a battery loco to run alongside my Ragleth, for those times I just want to get things going without a steam up. I've been looking at the roundhouse locos, in particular either a little john or a harlech castle. I can see pros and cons of each, but what I'd l...

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box
Roof detailing done, interior lights on (wish I hadn't bought cheapo battery boxes from eBay!) and the windows completed using a paint pen.

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box
Oh and after a great deal of searching managed to find some plastic letters of just the right size to allow me to add the name boards at each end just how I wanted them.

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box
Not much movement in the last few weeks, but started on the roof and the roof detailing (also fitted a couple of lights to the interior)

Police Box kit aka Tardis
I recall from the Peterborough 16mm show this year there was a firm selling some great resin kits, one of which was a tardis/police box.
Can anyone recall the name of the firm? And even better a link to their website?

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box
Brickwork done (needs weathering), the interior has been fixed in place, the windows glazed and fitted.
Next steps: start detailing the top sides and begin work on the roof

New project: a simple track cleaner
I don't need to clean the track for electrical pick up, but just to save time clearing leaves, twigs and other things that can cause rolling stock to derail. So I've had an idea of a simple electric motor to drive a brush to sweep away the debris. I bought an IP Engineering flat bed truck at the Pet...

Started a paint scheme for my coaches very (very!) loosely based on the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway colours. Being pulled by my Ragleth http://i.imgur.com/4VpnvWT.jpg Being pulled by a very clean Feanor (who has since been heavily weathered) http://i.imgur.com/Aj8sLw4.jpg Being pulled by my ver...

Not quite meccano bought, but the idea and eBay search took me to a place to get some simple "Robot parts" which should do the trick

Gears and chains
I'm looking to build a simple track clearer (not cleaner, clearer. something to clear twigs, leaves etc from the track). The idea is a flat bed truck with a circular brush at the front driven by a small electric motor that will spin and brush away the debris. I'm after a supplier for cogs, gears, ch...

Some Saturday afternoon jobs
Finally got round to painting some of the lineside bits and bobs I bought at the 16mm show! In between work on the signal box (post in the Projects board)

Re: New Project : Stanley Signal Box
Not a huge amount of progress since the last time, spent a bit of time building the steps. These were foamboard in the main, the spindles were brass rods that I inserted through holes drilled vertically and then tops were rounded off using milliput. The brickwork has been dremelled out and a base un...
