Great British Bake Off for model trains. The recipe Appoint a panel of judges, only one of whom knows something about the topic; make sure there are some 'characters' in the teams; give the teams challenges which include a high probability of failure; edit the footage to include at least one tantru...

Re: Great Model Railway Challenge - Ch5 tonight

Well. It wasn't quite as toe curling or excruciating as I was expecting. However, I do question the current editorial values of programme makers which makes the assumption that audiences' attention spans are restricted to 10 seconds and we are unable to absorb and process information at levels of co...

Went on the Kandytoys site myself….You need to have a minimum order of £2000… :sad11: There having a laugh. I think I'll pass on that. Seen these on Amazon though….Don’t know if they would help, only thing is if you bought more then 2, they would be looking all the same way……….. https://www.amazon....

I thought F as well (before I saw the other posts). I like the crimson and cream option personally, but that's maybe because I like 3' gauge lines such as the Donegal and IoM...

Great Model Railway Challenge - Ch5 tonight

Does anyone know anything about this? http://www.channel5.com/show/the-great-model-railway-challenge/ It looks like it will be another reality show trivialisation - no doubt they will home in on anyone who appears slightly nerdy to take the proverbial..... Or am I just getting cynical in my old age?...

Great history so far. I do like a good back story. That lettering looks spot on! Looks too regular for Letraset - bespoke transfers?

A week for each turnout! Wow, no wonder they look so good. Each one is a labour of love. I do like seeing the construction process in context.

Good find Rik, they look perfectly adequate for our needs. Possibly Bicton Gardens would consider a postal delivery if the order quantity was sufficient? Quite possible. I did wonder whether to contact KandyToys directly. I found their website but to view their products you need a log-in. I might h...

Cows

Just back from a week in sunny Dorset and Devon (visiting various NG railways). Whilst at Bicton Gardens, I browsed the shop and picked up a few cows (sorry about the imagery this might create). - - here's a couple, plus a figure to give an idea of scale. One of the Gauge 1 guys did a slip coach with in-built motor to give the coach a realistic running distance
I wonder if the mechanism from Zach's momentum van would work??

That's a lovely looking model Rik - I love the tank in particular. It reminds me of this one that the Bluebell have recently constructed at East Grinstead... Cheers, Andrew. The tank is a dead ringer for the one at the West Lancs Light Railway at Hesketh. You got me! I used photos of both of them t...

Great looking building, Andrew. I agree with you that buildings seem to go together more quickly than rolling stock. I think there's more leeway for compromise on a building and fewer fiddly bits. Also, there's nothing mechanical to go wrong. Regarding primer - I tend to use Halford's grey for pract...

You could always base it on the Egyptian Delta Light Railway - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_ ... t_Railways
Some really interesting prototypes on there
