Thanks for the advice you 2! :) Because it's going to be in Red Oxide, I figured that rust wouldn't stand out much... Looking at the SAR wagons on the Welsh Highland, the underside is covered in black oil, with a hint of greenery aswell! I was thinking of putting a coat of metallic silver unde...

Horrible contraptions.
Our's moved 5' then ran out of puff...
But we loved the look of it so much, that the next project is an "uprated" version with proper cylinders and a Cheddar boiler.

Been awhile since I last commented... The locomotive is now finished, and is now in the paint shop. The finish is a secret! ;) It's high on the list of locomotives that have p*** off my dad the most (the 2 that have it beat are a "Salem" Garratt and his own, blue Mayumbe Garratt)! It's bur...

Weathering...

I am currently building a Darjeeling Metal box van. I would like to know how to weather metal convincingly. I used to weather model tanks but I wasn't really happy with them...
Would anyone be kind enough to give me tips on weathering? :)
Cheers :)

Cheers for clarifying!
Do you also know if they had lettering? I cannot find any good pictures of the wagons.

Darjeeling metal box van liveries

Does anyone know what liveries these vans were in? I have seen one in red oxide, but I was never sure if this was correct...
If anyone can provide any pictures it would be very helpful! :)
Cheers

When the Gloucestershire group first saw it, we all LOVED it! The detail is crisp, but it WILL survive any punishment.

They are a dream to build! Even with my hands of many thumbs!
I have a 2 comp/Guards carriage finished, it runs well! But I recommend adding lead to the 4-wheel, 3 comp carriages. It makes them so much better!

I never really liked the cut-down Russell... But now that I've seen this I may have different opinions! :)
Looks beautiful, especially pulling the "Rainbow" carriages!!

The Meyer WILL be for sale if anyone's interested. I'll update on this page AND on the "For Sales" section when it is completely finished and tested.
Estimated price is £1500, for a handmade, custom locomotive that will run very well.

2 Morgans fresh out

2 new articulates built by my dad. What if the Talyllyn modified a Mayumbe Garratt for use? Based on the tiny Mayumbe Garratts that has been made "more British". With a full cab, polished brass and side buffers, it will look a treat pulling a rake of Perfect World Talyllyn carriages. Is no...

Is the engine new? If it is it simply needs more running to make it behave. Once they're run in you can easilly get a good 45 minutes run at a continuous speed without much gas adjustment.

Roundhouse ALCO

Roundhouse has announced that they will be producing the ALCO in 2 versions: Mountaineer and the original WD style. They have also said that if anyone has one and ordered and is interested in changing it to contact them asap.
My guess is that it's going to be a good seller!! :)

Does anyone know who sells freelance transfers?

We need a reliable source of transfers. Unfortunalty neither me or my father are very good at computer art! Any suggestions? Locolines doesnt exist anymore as far as I know, and Blackham has failed us numerous times so we're not asking him. These are the styles we're looking for: ./myff/13158...

The colour is standard roundhouse "gamboge" (although it looks slightly darker then the usual shade), lined by Lightline. I always wanted a Lady Anne in this livery, and when Roundhouse brought it out I had to buy it! :) Nice looking Lady Tom! But I probably wont get a whistle for mine, it...

So you could add sandboxes that span the boiler like the L&B. Or you could add the brake gear and westinghouse? Full footplate seems quite popular at the moment with Locoworks doing the parts. We do have "spare" vac pipes from brandbright that I could paint up and mount. I've seen Loc...

Ideas on Silver Lady mods

Hi all. I've had my Lady since 2007, and it's a beautiful thing (as are all Lady Annes these days), but now that my Katie has been completely rebuilt, it looks odd compared to them... Any ideas for mods anyone? :) ./myff/1310311/LVLR_2008_Forest_Lady_halt.jpg In 2008, as the "new engine" a...

Corris Railway liveries

Does anyone know the actual original colours of the carriages, brakevan and Corris Railway waggons (not private ones)? The Talyllyn and Corris carriages currently being used are apparently in original livery (brown), but the Theodore Press drawings book states that it is deep maroon. The same with t...
