Re: Garden Railway Gallery - a POLL, please read.

I've voted 1, but could have just as easily voted 2.
Just keep it running with the proviso that once the number of entries drops below a predetermined level you archive it.

BTW I've never entered a photo, but do follow the entries and always vote.

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?

Rob - That is absolutely brilliant. I assume as you created so many they proved reliable. Studying the pictures and noting the lack of check rails, is the favoured facing road determined by which blade you have left longest? To the people who mentioned sprung points, I use Peco points in their stand...

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?

Thanks everyone, food for thought.
Time to bite the bullet and take the Dremel to my oldest set.

Static points, has anybody created a working set?

As per the title, I've seen the concept at work from a distance and would love to give it a try. However sacrificing a perfectly serviceable set of points on the alter of curiosity seems rather extravagant. For the unenlightened I'm talking about a set of points with no moving parts that allow traff...

Re: SM32 foot crossing timber kit

It's not a kit, but have you looked at Peco SL-801.
Sleepering for points, about 7" long and look like the same molding as the SM32 sleepers.

Re: Poundland selling fairy houses

Just thought you may be interested, some houses at £3 each that judging by the photos pass as 16mm.
I'd call in myself but it's about 20 miles to my nearest store.

Poundland selling fairy houses

Just seen a post on the 16mm facebook page about the above.
I know some people may be interested but don't partake in the facebook shenanigans (yes Rod this is for you!).

Re: Binnie Tub Body

Rod - I've just noticed that the powder wagon sits quite nicely on a plain Binnie Chassis. Just leave off the pivots and glue in place.
Not what it was designed to do, but with Binnie bolster chassis at 2 for £10 they're simply not worth printing.

Re: Binnie Tub Body

As Simon says, the pivots glue on the ends using the raised ridge as a positioning guide. The strips should have stayed attached to the tub, but aren't essential, they just added a bit of riveting detail. The tub then hangs in the supports in place of the 'V' body, so not directly on the plain Binni...

If you ran the wire in a tube you could site the solenoid/servo pretty much anywhere.

Re: Print results

I've been using hairspray with a glass bed since I started (it was how the printer came and I've never changed).

Every so often, when it builds up and becomes noticeable on the print, I clean the whole plate with a razor scraper and Iso-propyl, then start building up again.

For general public use I wouldn't buy certificates with expirations greater than 2 years.
A lot of services consider a cert more than 2 years old to be untrusted.

Diamond leaded lights, very posh!

Now that's something that would 3D print nicely. Must look for a suitable local prototype.

Very nice.
I know we have some people on the forum who are very vocal in their dislike of background music on videos, however I thought your choice complemented the visuals superbly.

Easiest way to look for things on ThingiVerse is to actually use google's search with a site clause:

Re: A new cheapo printer

From what you've described the bed levelling on the Select is completely different from the bed levelling on the Delta. On the Delta the bed is fixed and the hot end 'Probes' it's position in various places, the correction then all takes place in the software. This means the process takes place befo...

Sorry to hear about your experience, I have the MonoPrice mini Delta, and I have to say it has been flawless. It's not that quiet, but I can stand to be working in the same room while it's running. It's also very portable, even having a carry handle on the top! I suppose you've given up now, but I f...

I think a lot of the appeal to me is using a limited toolset in ever more creative and imaginative ways.
Hence my comment about Rik's riveting, seeing the result and having to work backwards to determine a method.

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing

Not only can you import STL files into TinkerCad, but also SVG files. SVG files are Scaleable Vector Graphic files, 2 dimensional drawings (but not bitmaps). There are various free tools available to produce drawings in this format the easiest I've found is a web based product - https://boxy-svg.com...
