Working hinges

Well, I didn't expect my first post on here for a while to be about 3D printing I must say. As a user of LASER cutting for the majority of my modelling over the years I've been something of a 3D printing skeptic (it always seemed to me to be a good way of producing a lot of landfill!) I welcomed LAS...

Re: In search of Carriage Brown

Cheers all and thank you so much GTB for the look through your tools of the trade. I'll keep an eye out for a bow pen to have a go with. I've never heard of a mapping pen before, that sounds ideal! The trick with the plasticard on the back of the ruler is also excellent - thanks I'll be sure to give...

In search of Carriage Brown

It has been a long held yearning of mine to align the, currently dorment, DVLR's carriage stock livery more closely with our the GER's. For DVLR's marks 1 and 2 the carriage livery was "Olive and Elm" which was, I think quite attractive and distinctive. It was originally intended to suit t...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Zach, I noticed your momentum van wasn't behind River Butley, but it seemed to handle the line well? Yes indeed - I was all prepared for it to end in disaster - I allowed rather more speed on the straights than I'd have liked to get it round the bends but the loco performed really very well indeed ...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Thanks Rik for an inspiring visit, as always! It was really lovely to get two of the DVLR's locomotives out of hibernation and I was pleased with the performance. Even Rene seemed to enjoy himself. I wish we'd have more time to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful garden at the PLR. That's now 3/4 of th...

Free or cheap video editing software

It's been a little while since I've put together a video, now coming back to it I've realised that with Windows 10 on the laptop now I can't stand using the new version of WMM. Sorry to dredge up the old topic but what is the latest on free/cheap video editing software for garden railway videos? Wha...

Liveries, yes... Blue, yes. White rooves, double yes. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4286/35701997585_b3104aed5f_z.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4055/35702004495_05ea1139f2_z.jpg As to carriages - teak and dark blue go very well but I like olive green and cream for carriages. I did try with tea...

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway

As ever wonderful. I think the colours you use add greatly to the realism. Do you mix them yourself as Peter Jones did to represent "scale" colour?

Re: The DVLR Mark 2

Thank you for the kind words - its been very much trial and error over the years! The truth is that I rarely get a chance to run a train these days - I generally get everything looking back to normal, take some photos then its the end of the day and that's that! So, already aware I have enough on my...

Re: The DVLR Mark 2

Hullo all, I'll spare you the "I got back from Uni and I found this" photos but needless to say today was spent most of today picking up all the leaves and ripping up the MYOB. Bits of the railway have really settled in very nicely so I thought I'd share some naff phone photos of it with y...

There are many in 16mm who do the same thing. As commented on by a fellow 16mm NGM member last week regarding some of running in the latest 16mm NGM DVD - I was very conscientiously running my Roundhouse Alco at a typical scale snail speed as he was videoing it close in. Chris Cairns I did try to s...
