Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

I remember when my Silver Lady use to look like yours when it was new. If you are running out of gas that quickly it might be up too high or try refilling with gas once you have pressure (remembering to turn the gas off first!) I’m planning on buying a few bits and pieces for it this year :) The ru...

Not to worry though, as No.9 was on hand to go...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Pity Rik's chosen theme for the current Photo Gallery is "On Track", if it was 'Off Track', you'd have a sure-fire winner!!     I could start an entire gallery of ‘off the rails’! Hi Rob, Agree with Phillipy on your photo. Was it taken when we had that heatwave l...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Great seeing photos of this fantastic line again. I just love the way it flows and I look forward every week to more from you Rob. The line is a strange one hey. Do you think it may have been this heat.... Network Rail have an excuse now for running their trains late, the heat has started...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Nice Tram there Rob. It does need a respray you're right. Seems the previous owner was a little bit carrels with the grey.... Have you any idea what colour/colours you are thinking of doing. I am waiting to see how you get on with all the conversions you are planning. Please show how you go ...

Re: Laser cutting info for modellers

This is all very interesting. I’m looking to scratch build myself a tender engine in 16mm scale. I was intending to use a proprietary chassis, but that example chassis you’ve posted looks much better.

What would be the best format for submitting a design for cutting?

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Brilliant colour scheme Rob. It does look very colonial. :thumbright: Thanks! I’m thinking that the railway got them cheap from a local builder after one of the many colonial lines closed before they could be delivered. The directors liked the livery so much that they stuck with it for other items ...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Looking good! I've always liked those carriages, and your new livery really suits them... Films of passenger services to follow, I trust?! All the best, Andrew Thanks Andrew. Yes they are quite attractive. I think just getting rid of some of the quite gaudy Bachman’s colours (this one had bottle gr...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Very interesting. Yes, I've bought stuff from Bertram at Llanfair but not seen these. I certainly have a need for a couple. Do the slots coincide with the sleepers? I might try making one from brass shim. Rik They do indeed Rik, although to be more specific they coincide with the chairs. The little...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Brass checkrail extensions are on order from Bertram Heyn which will ensure that anything with finescale flanges (I.e. Lady May and the Baguley) will run through without derailing. I used his R1 version for the last few years and they really do make a massive difference. Sounds interesting. Have yo...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)

Things have been a bit quiet at the CLR recently. Mostly due to the ridiculously wet June we’ve had but work and holidays also keep getting in the way. Last week I finally decided to crack on with replacing the last problematic R1 point with an R3. This is one end of the loop at Top-End. With a bit ...
