Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past

I will be attending Peterborough again this year (Stewarding Friday, and Saturday after the show), and although I chatted with a number of my fellow Stewards, and some of my favoured suppliers, it might be nice to meet some of the people with whom we converse online. I don't think I've knowingly met...

It's a miracle you all survived, not a hard hat, safety boot, or high-vis in sight.

+1 for HGLW excellent budget kits, and a massive +10 for PS models, loads of lovely simple to build kits which you can improve upon with your own detailing. The PS kit linked above above will not disappoint. It won't pull a rake of loaded tippers, but will manage adequately pulling half a dozen of P...

Re: Is this a "Garden Railway" ?

It's purpose is not obvious, it doesn't appear to lift the line to a higher level.
It could simply be to add a delay to trains before re-entering a more scenic element of the layout.

It's trains, wagons, and track. It's in a garden.
It is a garden railway.
Rule 1 applies.

Re: Ringbalin Light Railway

Just thinking outside the box: What about a layer of foam at the bottom of the trestle? I mean something substantial like the innards of an old foam mattress, this should be available for free and could be roughly sculptured and stained/painted. It wouldn't be as effective as some form of catch fenc...

A rather poor picture I'm afraid, it's too miserable to head down the garden!

Nice work as usual Rik, I never remember to photograph anything I do until I've almost finished.

Out of interest, how many times whilst squeezing between the fence and shed, did you regret not doing this before the workshop construction? :D

+1, I've spent the last year with various concoctions of beer, yoghurt, milk, and chopped up moss trying to get an effect similar to that.

Re: TVT - The Mule with No Name Part 2

I suspect comparisons are being made with small battery electric kits running off a couple of AA or AAA batteries, with little weight, and frequently 2 wheel drive. I have to admit, until I started building a recovery loco, my battery locos were purely for pulling a few wagons around for show during...
