Laurence, no doubt you are making the most of your coffee stirrers and producing some nice work, I can see most of your structures are not intended to be left outdoors so wood is suitable for this purpose. My concern for my own buildings is that they need to be left out in all weathers (except winte...

That building looks very effective and well made, currently I am concentrating on structures as winter sets in but would never consider using stirrers or any other wooden material as the weather in West Wales is either wet or very wet! Wood is not an option. My favoured material is Plastikard and so...

Hi Piotr and welcome to the Forum. I take it you mean the crane loco which is not any particular prototype, rather a mix of various ones which I found in a wonderful book on the subject. It is made of Plastikard and runs on a Lima '0' gauge power bogie with a battery pack towed behind in a purpose b...

Peter, From the RHS site: Mind-your-own-business or baby's tears, Soleirolia soleirolii (syn. Helxine soleirolii) is a creeping perennial with tiny rounded leaves. PM me your aadress and I'll happily post you some. Thank you Philipy, your soggy package arrived safely this morning and Paul the Post ...

Better and better! Looking wonderful. I must admit to never drilling through such a thickness of plastikard but I doubt any distortion will occur. Possibly a slow drill is causing it to overheat, whereas a sharp faster one might do the job quicker and clear the waste without generating too much heat...

Hi Simon, I do hope the keeper will be able to find time to tend his garden while keeping an eye on the busy railway crossing! When the building is sited I hope to have something to represent a veg. patch (or similar). I will be looking for suggestions for this so please let me have any ideas from a...

Re: Springers & NG
Lovely dogs - must be something in the Springer & NG thing I do hope so, otherwise regular viewers might think they have tuned in to the Crufts Forum by mistake (if there is one?). Our two are inseparable, but Dan (Daniel the Spaniel) is now ten and not in the best of health so Holly (3) must...

If you think that one is beautiful, try this one for size.... ./myff/2025078/IMG_4185.JPG She is our newest addition to the dog fleet, another Springer bitch, working stock, great pedigree, and enough to melt the heart of any grown man! Penny will be joining us tomorrow, Thursday, and should be a co...

Another Pendle Valley conversion is nearing the end. This is the crossing keepers cottage which is now fully painted and complete with roses around the porch. Quite some achievement considering the keeper hasn't even taken up residence yet! The pictures were taken alongside one of my dogs as she is ...

A few pages back I showed a low relief structure made from a cut down Pendle Valley engine shed. This was to be another warehouse just to fill in the end of a line of buildings behind my quay area. In the beginning I was not too impressed with the way it looked but I carried on anyway. Now it's fini...

Well done again Andrew, the detail edging blue diamond bricks are so typically 'railway' in appearance and must have adorned so many railway structures, yards and paving at one time. Do be careful with the lifting, I have recently had an MRI scan on my damaged back which has been painful since March...
