Ah, those were the days (my friend)! Very nice items of rolling stock.
That looks like TR carriage No.16 (the Stanton) but with a lengthened, lengthened guards compartment!
You really must get that kit finished now, I've got to ask are you going to in San Francisco ?

Yo! That's the one! :D

You might also have a claim to fame there too..............anybody else got an unfinished kit from pre 1995??

Looks like that could be the open end of the Stanton next to it too, - jealous.

Hiya Will, the original sides are the REALLY thin plastic (thou's thin!), a white one and a clear one. The idea was to cut out the windows, paint the side then glue it to the clear sheet. I've got some dead thin ply and if I can't get replacements, I'll use that to scratchbuild from drawings - I wan...

Tenmille Talyllyn Coach No.9

Hiya guys, Last year I picked up a second hand old kit which turned out to have the vacuum formed plastic sides missing! I've tried Tenmille, but no luck cos it's long out of production so.................... I was wondering if anyone has a spare set of sides for this kit that they aren't going to u...

I can vouch for soldering, I'd never tried it before but assembled the control panel for my IP Jessie with soft solder. I reckon the trick is to TAKE YOUR TIME , it's still quicker than waiting for glue to dry! A bonus that I found was that I could bend the assembly to "tweak"it to fit the...

Hi Brian, The East Midlands group will be my first port of call, and seeing as you're (League Of Gentlemen voice...) local, As for hosting, my current residence is a tiny terrace with a er, "compact" back garden on a cul de sac with atrocious parking, but hey - no obstacle too great so I'l...

Well I'm pretty much "on track" with all the above,............... Tidy up and organise Pentrich Sidings (my workbench - it's a state!) Replace W&LLR No4 with a live steam loco asap. Aquire a Roundhouse loco by the end of 2010. Repaint rolling stock for a more "corporate" ima...

I'm sort of hanging on, but I've got to load the van then set off soon for a steady drive down to Basildon. We're entertaining the good folks down there for a New Years Eve party through to about 1am.
If I don't get to post anything else before I leave, I'll catch you erm, next year!

Excellent point - and one I'm meaning to use! The rail bender should let me do that by adjusting the radius "on site" to suite. The problem is that I'm intending to use LGB long straights (with alternate webs cut out). When I did this "free-hand" (the round the belly technique) t...

I haven't tried that - (I don't have any curve templates, I'm a "set track" user, oh the shame!).

Sounds like a solution though thanks. I'll bear it in mind if I can't get a rail bender sorted.

Hiya Brian (and Happy New Year!), That sounds promising - is the clamp something like a mole grip? PCLR is right about the 3 rollers, but what's the distances between them? I know that 2 will be "fixed" and the other adjustable to set the curve, where did you post it and I'll have a shufti...

DIY Rail Bender

Hi guys, I can remember seeing (somewhere on the web) details of a home made railbender. - They're too expensive for the cash strapped W&LLR to buy! I think it was made from a drill press vice and roller bearings. Does anyone have any details of a DIY rail bender that you don't mind sharing? I'm...

Forgot to mention a bit of a cash injection for the W&LLR funds which will probably be spent on track to ease some of the tighter curves during this winters track re-laying program!

(Unless anyone can send me plans for a cheap build-it-yourself rail bender ??)

Hi everyone, this is my first post, joining the forum was a late pressie to myself! I received some Back2Bay6 figures and a Lineside Delights coaling stage kit (which I'm building at the moment in front of my screen - waiting for glue to dry!). Not much, but a 100% improvement over previous years. I...
