Hello! I'm no expert, and it's been maybe 15 years since I did it, but the paint job on my Railcar came out well and seems to have stood the test of time, so, as I recall... The body was stripped down into its component parts and then sprayed with ordinary car primer - red oxide as I recall... Then ...

Hello again - success!!!

I've just had a trouble-free test run - thanks Jim, Chris and Dan, your advice is very much appreciated. "Daisy" made a fine sight on a grey and blustery day, those red rods really brighten things up...

Arrrgh!!! I fell for it! I've just been running a train myself and pondering the DVLR's sad demise all the while!

Glad all's well - and what a great photo!

Lovely models, thanks for the photos... My winter projects are slowly making their way through the paintshop (the kitchen table in my case!) too...

All the best,

Thanks Chris,

I've loosened the gears slightly to allow a little more play - weather permitting I'll raise steam tomorrow to see what happens...

ive just bought one of these... what does yurs run like? Hello! Pretty well I'd say - slow but steady... She's a little noisy, but I think that's part of the charm. I didn't think she was hugely powerful, until I trundled her through the tunnel the other day forgetting I'd left a rake of 4 or 5 w...

Good advice, I'll give it a shot - thanks!

I love those wooden posts and wonder whether the semi permanence of wood is better than my live for ever melamine chopsticks. My posts aren't doing too badly - all of this section of line was built using sections of my old railway, so I reckon it's 7 or 8 years old. The fence posts were just cheap ...

I think I might be tempted to give the sign a coat of rust remover (try jenolite) and a coat of paint to stop anymore of the letters being eaten by the dangerous Iron Moth! That's what the antique folk call "patina", isn't it?!! I know what you mean, but I'm worried that if I remove the r...

Thanks chaps... The noise does come and go as the gears rotate, so a slightly oval-shaped shaft could well be the problem? Presumably, because it was running well before, there must be a "sweet spot" somewhere - I'll have to try and find it, I'll give the fag paper/newspaper method a try.....

Evening all, The last week or so has seen me Spring Cleaning to patio at the bottom of the garden. It's always looked a bit of a state, being the last place to get sorted after building work to the house pretty much trashed the garden (and the last railway). It's a work in progress, but I thought yo...

Daisy and I had another test run today, only a little more successful than the first - those gears still don't sound right, please see the Help Me thread if you've got any bright ideas! She looked nice though... Here she is entering Clarach: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/cosmobonsor/Daisy%2...

Problems with Regner Gears...

Evening all, I've recently repainted the frames of my Regner Konrad which necessitated moving/removing the gears. Since putting it back together the gears have been significantly noisier than before ( I don't recall hearing them at all) and so I'm reluctant to us it - I'm guessing whatever's going o...

Hmmmmm... I took Daisy out into the garden this morning and raised steam, only to find her more reluctant to start than usual - and when she did move the gears were a lot noisier than they normally are. Only a whirring rather than a crunching, but still not quite right... I turned off the gas and br...

Morning all, Over the last few days I've completed the first stage of cosmetic modifications to "Daisy", my Regner Konrad by painting the front end and frames black and the cranks and rods red, and then weathering the whole lot. It's now reassembled and awaiting a test run - the weather's ...
