Down here in the Great Southern Land there is a move afoot for Australia Post to reduce deliveries from 5 days a week to either 2 or 3, with those of us who want 5 day service having to pay a premium for it!!
So much for postal SERVICE!

Chris Thanks for that. I had a sqwiz inside the boiler and it looks quite clean, any way I did a search on the forum for boiler washout tips and came across a thread of yours from 2008. In it there was a nice drawing of the Mamod steam pipe flow. I looked at it carefully and realized that under my d...

Raising steam ( or not!!)
A while ago ( well a couple or years!) I bought an SLk1 on the usual site. When it arrived I tried to steam it using the solid fuel burner and got about enough steam for a couple of sluggish wheel turns. Enthused by the literature on the forum and elsewhere I stripped it down, cleaned all sorts of g...

I must say that this looks excellent. However........what is the cost of the material relative to say buying an injection moulded kit? I know its not all about cost but I did just wonder. Whilst on the material how well do you think it will take paint and will the wheels be too soft for much running...

Scale and gauges aside. I don't see small children as being a problem. I have stock for my line that is 'Daddy's and some more rugged items for the grumper. It does give us something to do together. Me too. I have some Faller e-train and play-train stuff, some with simple RC fitted that keeps my 3...

Re: My Bertie won't boil!!
Thanks, Graeme and others for your replies With the boiler loose from the frames, Thankfully it wasn't that bad, just the footplate poped off, so it sounds as though I should definitely work through the gas line first. you can check the control valve by disconnecting the gas line from the jet holder...

Thanks All. Worm now off. Heated with soldering iron as suggested, Good thing you steered me away from the blowtorch!! Didn't try the Drontal  Didn't think about going 7.2v. This particular model has a weight in the boiler which is EXACTLY the size of 2 C cells, which I took as a cue. I suspect...

De-worming a Faller E-Train motor
Hi, seems the only time I ever de-lurk on this forum is to ask a question, however I am in the middle of a conversion project that I may be able to post about, if I can ever actually do it. I recently bought a Faller E-Train track powered steam outline loco. I am trying to convert it to battery powe...
